Doing better now
WORTH IT$350
It finally did fade...took a while. I did a series of mild chemical peels (18% TCA) from make up artist's choice. They also have a fade serum that seems to be helping too. The fade serum you put on every day. It soaks in really well so that you can put on makeup and sunscreen. They also have a fade peel that causes less peelies than the TCA. I've also been using neutrogena liquid sunscreen for the face. Soaks in really well also...can't even tell it's on. Also I get these pimples that are "underground," and they leave red marks (post inflammation hypopigmentation). I didn't really realize how many red marks this was causing. So as soon as I see one starting to appear I put neutrogena on the spot acne treatment...it doesn't irritate my skin at all. So...all of these things have helped bring the redness down to 30% of what it was.

Hi Linda,
Wondering what the Dr. said? I've been thinking about vbeam for my redness. I have super sensitive skin tho and have been very hesitant. I've been reading up on it, and so many Drs say the downtime is minimal, but when I read reviews it seems that isn't true. The other times you had it done, was the downtime this long?
Hope everything went well with the Dr!

Sorry just had to post this, the downtime is not mimimal. I swelled like a melon! I honestly was not recognisable! But the results were great.

Yes don't believe the docs when they say the down time is minimal. Every time I've had done it takes at least 2 and 1/2 Weeks. This time it has taken longer because they use such a powerful setting the doctor said.

I’ve had vbeam twice. Yes a little swelling under the eyes, but never any purple bruising whatsoever. And the results are excellent. Must be the much higher settings they are using on you.

how long did it take for all the marks to totally fade? Did they totally fade?
and how long before you could easily cover it up with makeup?

The dermatogist just said they would fade with time. They did fade, but still left residual redness. My first doctor who did this for me 3 times was a plastic surgeon, while this time the doc was a dermatologist. Wish I could go back to that plastic surgeon but he no longer has that laser.

Thanks for sharing, I had V beam in March. I was the same but a lot more swelling, I thought it would never go down. My face swelled so badly especially around and under my eyes, I literally could not see very well! A bit frightening. The results were great though, and I did notice a nice improvement. I was recommended at least 2 treatments, but can't quite bring myself to have it again! Love to know how you went when you went back to the dermatologist?

Wow I'm not by any means an expert on this but I had 1 done 2 weeks ago and there is no way in hell I looked even remotely like that.. I was red for about 3 hours after it but the next day I went to work and you wouldn't have even known..I had mine done by a very well known dermatologist on this forum so I knew I was in good hands.. But even a fully ablative fraxel doesent have a 3 week down time.. If I was you I would be going back and asking questions

What dr did you use ?

Dr davin Lim from brisbane australia.. 2 weeks after having the v beam I had a fraxel 1927 and for my whole face and fraxel c02 under the eyes and also on the side of my mouth.. Down time for that was about 5 days

Linda, now that it's almost six months, are you satisfied with the results? Your pix were so helpful. I'm still on the fence about having it done due to the down-time. Also, I'm not a redhead. I wonder if that affects the recovery time? Thanks for posting.

No, I'm not satisfied. There are remnants of redness. However, when my other doctor did it (3 different times) there wasn't any residual redness and I got a very good result. That doctor was a board-certified plastic surgeon, while this latest one was a dermatologist. Now I am using Makeup Artists Choice peels to try and get rid of the residual redness. The peels work because this redness is post hyperpigmentation (marks on the surface of the skin) instead of broken capillaries. So I guess the moral of the story is that it does matter who is doing the procedure. My first doctor no longer has the laser (pulse dye) he used for me.

I'm going back to the doctor to see why it's taking so long
I called the dermatologist to find out about the reddish spots. He wants to see me so I go in three days.

Doctor said it is because they used a very powerful setting (I don't know what setting)
