I had my procedures done five days ago and am still in recovery mode. So, it's a bit premature to fully write this review right now, so I'll start by sharing my experience thus far. The day of surgery was went just as explained. I showed up to the Wright Surgery Center at 6:30am and got admitted then prepped by the staff there. Everyone was very professional and reassuring that everything would go just fine. Dr. Harmych showed up around 7:38, we spoke for a short time then it was off to the surgery room. When I woke from anesthesia the friendly staff once again answered all our, (My husbands), questions and helped get us safely on our way home around 2 pm. That night, as the anesthesia wore off more, I began to get a headache. So, I decided to start self medicating by taking two extra strength Tylenol around 10 pm. GAt midnight I took another two, that's when the regret set in. The pain got worse and I couldn't take the prescribed pain meds yet. That was the worst decision I've made so far. That night, not only am I in an uncomfortable sleeping position, but I was in extreme pain that wouldn't allow me to get any sleep. The next morning I had my post op appointment with Dr. Harmych. I told him about the pain and reassured me that as I started the steroid therapy that day, the swelling would slowly go down and the pain would subside. I couldn't wait any longer so I finally started with the pain meds. On a side note, I wasn't prepared for a five day long jaw closure. Today was the first day I could fit my tooth brush head between my teeth. So make sure you have some mouthwash handy and some stool softener. You will be on a liquid diet weather you like it or not for about a week. Not much else gets passed your clinched jaw for four days, at least.
Friday I go back to Dr. Harmych's office to get my sutures taken out. I'll report on my progress then.
