How it works
- Our highly-trained Review Moderation team evaluates all reviews before they're published to ensure they're written by people like you and not a member of a doctor's office.
- This multi-step process takes up to 24 hours from review submission to publication.
- Doctors can't pay to have reviews removed or hidden.
- Reviews are only removed at the reviewer's request or if they violate our Terms of Service.

Proceed with caution!! 3 1/2 weeks after my second Forever Young Broadband Light (BBL) treatment on 12-1-17, I was doing my makeup on Christmas day and noticed significant fat loss/fat atrophy in my face, most predominantly and noticeably in my cheek fat pads and under/around my eyes.
Many doctors will say this is not a possiblity with Broadband Light/BBL (a type of intense pulsed light/IPL); but after this happened to me, I searched and found others who also say they had the same facial fat loss after treatment.
Note that I had no other procedures done other than the broadband light/BBL.
Unfortunately, I didn't have a lot of fat to lose in my face, and this procedure has aged me significantly.
Side note: My best friend is always very positive and never wants to say anything hurtful or negative, but when I asked her her opinion, she admitted to noticing the changes too. The one other friend I told about the treatment and what it had done was quiet and didn't say anything in response (and certainly didn't respond that you couldn't notice or that it was just in my head).
I also found this article by Dr. Sam Lam, who is one plastic surgeon specializing in facial fat grafting who doesn't just automatically dismiss that facial fat loss can happen as a result of IPL and who personally believes that it is real: www.lamfacialplastics.com/fat-grafting/correcting-fat-loss-in-ipl-damage-my-thoughts/
Facial fat loss may not happen frequently with IPL/BBL, but with the number of people who claim it has happened to them, doctors need start telling people that it is a possible (very negative) side effect. I did my research ahead of time and thought that with a skilled practitioner it was a pretty benign procedure, but in my research I never heard mention from any practitioner that this could happen. My practitioner is very skilled and is actually the doctor who pioneered Forever Young BBL.
I both left a message with the receptionist as well as emailed my doctor shortly after I started to notice the fat loss but did not get a response back so have not had an opportunity to discuss the issue...
