55 Years Old - Saggy Breasts

I often considered getting breast implants after seeing what having 3 kids and losing 30 lbs did to my breasts, but always had a fear about mammograms being compromised due to having implants (old technology) so I never pursued it. But when a friend had her breasts removed due to breast cancer and needed reconstruction, she went to Dr. Burke, and I then realized that maybe implants could actually be done safely, so I thought I'd give it a try. I saw Dr. Burke for a consultation, and besides the fact that she made me feel so comfortable, she was very knowledgeable and really listened to what I wanted and hoped for by getting implants. She also has a scanner that takes a picture of your body and shows you what you would look like with different size implants, so there are no surprises. She recommended that I get a lift and implants for the best possible results, but when I told her I did not want to have a lift due to fear of scarring etc., she told me that I could still get good results by getting implants only, however they would not be "perfect." At age 55, I was not looking for perfect - I wanted a better "me." Since I always believe in getting a 2nd opinion, I did some research and found a doctor in the area based on good reviews. He was terrible! He was so unprofessional that he actually asked me to undress while he watched me to "see what we're working with" which made me feel BEYOND uncomfortable, and then went on to say that he wouldn't even consider giving me implants without a lift because the results would be unsatisfactory. I then went on to see 2 other doctors (also males) who both indicated that any doctor willing to do implants without a lift were just "taking my money," so they either refused to do the surgery at all, or wanted me to sign a waiver saying I assumed all responsibility for the outcome. After feeling completely disenchanted, I decided to give up on my dream and live with what I had. I happened to mention this to my dermatologist who personally knew Dr. Burke and suggested I go back to her with the concerns the other doctors brought up, so she could address those issues and I could make my decision based on her response. I took her advice, and after Dr. Burke addressed my concerns, I once again felt that she had my best interest in mind, and wasn't trying to sell me something she didn't feel I wanted. I decided to go ahead with the surgery and I am soooooo happy I did! I have never felt better about my breasts and my body. I even got compliments from a few of my doctors who have seen many breast implants gone bad. I feel like going back to the doctors who refused to do the surgery to show them, just so they can see that it CAN be done, if you KNOW what you're doing. None of them even considered doing the teardrop implant, probably because they aren't familiar with them. Ladies, I am telling you - go to see Dr. Burke, at least for a consultation, especially since she's much more knowledgeable than so many other doctors that dissuaded me from even having the surgery. I couldn't be happier with the results, as well as with the care I received from her and the rest of her staff. It makes me so angry to think of how many women just like me who go to these doctors and either don't end up getting the surgery, or are talked into a surgery they don't really want because the doctors they see are inept. I have regained confidence in my 55 year old body which was robbed by childbirth and weight loss. I am forever grateful to Dr. Burke for my renewed self-confidence!
