Long story short, like many I've wanted a rhinoplasty done since middle school. My profile bothered me so much i was paranoid whenever i thought someone could see it like just sitting in the car with people. I also noticed breathing issues out of the right side so i finally made up my mind & decided to do it. I had a rhinoplasty to fix the bump & tip. I also had repair of vestibular stenosis for better breathing.
The first 4 days of recovery was ROUGH. I couldnt sleep & my throat was hurting so bad. I just took the heavy pain medicine when i needed sleep & drank tons of water with pinapple juice mixed in as i heard it helps with swelling & bruising, i think it really worked for me too. It's only been 4 days since I've gotten my cast off but the swelling on my nose is barely noticable & i have no bruising left. I couldnt be more happy with my results! I did notice my nostrils were a little uneven now but i was told it'd get better as the swelling goes away, even if it doesnt though the overall result is worth it in my opinion ! Still have a lot of healing to do so i'll have to come back & update at 6months & 1yr post op.
Thanks !!

Hi there, you look great! I am actually considering a surgery with Dr. S so this is great. Were you able to breathe after the surgery? Did you have splints? The nostrils being uneven - is that noticeable looking straight or only when you tilt your head? I hope you are feeling better and post more pictures!

Hello ! I was actually able to breathe through my nose after just not very well, i couldnt get enough air through my nose alone so i ended up breathing through my mouth for the most part. He uses only splints which let you breathe like that however i did have some complications during my surgery & he had to use packing in my right side only. I dunno how exactly he did it though cause i was still able to breathe through the right side as well even with packing.
To me i only notice the uneven nostrils when i look straight up at it, i dont notice it from other angles really, I've added some more pictures & video so you can see !
Thanks :)

That’s great about breathing. I get very anxious during colds when I can’t breathe through my nose so your experience sounds encouraging;) . The nostrils honestly look great to me, I think being 2 weeks post op, you look great! Do you have any before and after pictures looking straight? How were you feeling the first week? Any unbearable pains first few days? Did it hurt to take out the splints? Would you do it all over again? Sorry for bombarding you with all these questions - I’m seriously considering it but have some hesitations. Thank you !

Thank you ! I was really nervous when i first saw them since your nostrils are really all you can see with the cast lol but im so happy with the rest of my nose they dont bother me much at all.
I uploaded some video of before & after looking straight & all other angles but this site doesnt seem to be publishing em :c I'll try again & try to upload an actual picture since that should publish fine.
The first week i honestly felt like crap aha i was just uncomfortable having the cast & tape on my face. I didnt really eat the first two days cause moving my mouth hurt my nose & since i had some issues during my surgery he had to go behind my upper lip to get behind my nose so i have stiches in the front on my mouth there. I don't think thats very common for most people though cause i also asked a bunch of people questions before doing it & had never heard of hacing stiches anywhere but the nose lol i started to feel much better by day 4 though

I think the only unbearable part was one night i got this SUPER bad itchiness under my cast & in my nose, i started freaking out cause i wanted yo itch it so bad xD it was at night though so i just took one of the stronger pain meds they prescribe you & it puts you to sleep pretty quick & when i woke up the itch wasnt bad anymore whew.
The splints & stitches didnt hurt to take out, it just felt soooo gross lol about a lvl 2-3 out of 10 in discomfort but its so quick & theres no lingering soreness afterwords or anything. I felt 100% my normal self again right after its so nice to have it all out lol its at that point you can breathe fully & comfortably out of just your nose again so my throat instantly felt better too.
In reguards to doing it agaiiin, i totally think it was worth it for the resault. So im glad i did it & if i had to go back in time & choose to do it all over again i would. I just wouldnt look forward to the week after xD

Thats pretty much what people say, first week sucks and the cast and all that crap on your face can't be too comfortable so understandable. What went wrong that you had to have stitches in your mouth? Was your procedure just for looks or you had deviated septum or some medical constraint? Thank you so much again for the information, it is very helpful! And yes please post some before/after pictures up front!

I had some trouble breathing through one side of my nose, on my paperwork its called "nasal vestibular stenosis" so my septom was actually tilted at the top, collapsing the right side.
I heard that during surgery he found the structure of my nose was actually worst than he initially thought. He described it to my parents after surgery & said it looked like my nose had actually been broken by some trama before because my bones were sorta jammed upwards & pushed to its side ? We believe it cause when i was a kid i fell off a swingset & landed straight on my face! So badly my whole face was bleeding , there were cuts everywhere & my nose was bleeding buuuut we just washed it up & didnt think we needed to go to the doctors or anything so who knows lol
But because of that when he straightened it out my nose was apparently drooping on that side so he went behind my lip to do something that fixed it. I only heard this from my parents though as i didnt see him after i woke from the anesthesia.
& no problem this is the whole reason i decided to share my experiance on here lol i didnt have money to do a bunch of consultations with other drs so i made my choice based off the reviews & photos & was thinking to myself at the time that i wish there was even more on here!

so your nose was tilting to one side before the surgery? i can't see that at all now, looks perfect to me. I wish more people would share their experiences, i totally agree. The good thing i see about all his rhinoplasties , everyone still looks like themselves but better. Thats mostly what i am afraid of - i don't want to look any different except better version of myself. So when you wash your face or shower if you touch the nose it still tender and hurts?
Thank you again for sharing your experience! Keep posting updates and pictures as it heals.

That was my fear too. When the cast first came off i was too afraid to look so i askes my dad how it looked first. I was surprized when he smiled & said it looked good because he was against me getting the surgery. So thats when i looked & immediately i could tell it was swollen but i was so shocked by how good it looked on my side view now i just smiled & went "wow". I didnt think for a second that i didnt look like me anymore, i felt like it was the nose i was meant to have.
& yeah i rub my nose with face soap reeaaally gently in the shower, it doesnt hurt with gentle touching but feels really stiff so i try to be careful. It does hurt too much when i try to put make-up on with a blender sponge though.
& No problem ! I plan to!

another question for you, when you did consultation, he draws sort of the profile he can achieve with a pencil on your current profile picture , did he do that for you? If so, is the end result similar to it?

That was my biggest fear as well, i heard some people got freaked out when they first saw their new nose or say they didnt recognize themselves. When my cast first came off i asked my dad how it looked before looking myself cause i was scared, i was surprized when my dad actually smiled & said it looked good (he was against me having the surgery & had told me itd be a waste of money before i did it) after i looked in the mirror the first time i instantly smiled, i thought just that "this still looks like me & its still my nose but now it actually suites me~!"
I think he really pays attention to what you ask for too, the results are better than i imagined it could be

Yes he did, I'd say it does look similar to it except better in real life than on the paper of course

Thank you ! Yepyep Today marks exactly 2weeks for me since surgery day ! I was trying on a costume so i had some make-up on in this but not on my nose cause its still very tender @.@ but everyone says it looks totally healed & normal ! The inside of my nose is still kinda a mess though, i have a lot of scabbing clumped up in spots. I honestly wanna pick it out >.> but when ive tried it starts to bleed a lil & the scabs are stuck to these plastic looking strings in my nose !? I think they might be sutures I've heard about so im trying to stop messing them till i can ask dr. Schuster on my follow up what those strings are ^^"
