On July 5th I went to the office of Dr. Lee Epstein to receive Botox. We did the treatment around 4pm. By 8am the next day I knew something was wrong and quickly called his office and spoke with Rosie the secretary. I explained to Rosie that my eyebrow was to dipped down and also something was wrong with my eye lid. I was not able to get my eye liner on as usual and requested to have the Doctor call me back. Shortly after he called and I went to see him @ 3:30 pm.

When I went into his office. He didn’t even sit me into a chair. He immediately got very defensive. He looked at me and gave me a whole speech on how I would be the first woman in history with Botox working within the first 24 hours and blah blah blah. "Whatever was happening with your eyebrow was not due to Botox!!!”

I also called him when I two days later concerned with the appearances of my dropped looking eyebrow and both eye lids! The more and more we spoke, The arrogant and defensive he became. He asked for pictures of my past. I gave him everything he requested. He questioned a lot of the pics partially because I look so good LOL.

Well, now we have a bigger problem. On July 10th, I woke up with the most excruciating migraine I've ever felt. Vibration in my forehead and double vision in my left eye. Since that day I've been home bound in my dark room. I'm currently unable to squint, therefore I cannot open my shades or leave the house on a sunny day, even with sunglasses on. After seeing a NYC neurologist, Dr. Joey Safdieh of NY Cornell, we realized that the problem with my eyebrow dropping and the excruciating pain was a result of him hitting a nerve in my forehead. Now I have nerve ending pain which I cannot get relief from. I am on major pain medication. I am taking nerve pain medications, prednisones, sleep medications, anti migraine meds as well as Tylenol w/ codeine and nothing stops the vibration in my head. All these inhibit me from driving, but I can't leave my room anyway. I constantly feel drugged up and lethargic and I'm still in pain. I had to cancel a trip planned with friends abroad.

What upsets me the most how ARROGANT Dr. Gibstein was when he told me "Sweetie, put on some makeup and try to go out." Thanks to this procedure my summer normally spent with family is now sitting in my dark room in seclusion.

How are you now? I'm sorry that you're going through this. The good news is that it most likely won't last for a very long time.

What an ass. So sorry for your pain, not to mention disfiguring you. Will it go away in the typical 3 months? I sure hope so.. Do you think it’s an allergic reaction or the fact he hit theta nerve? Hoping you are feeling better real soon.

Hello there, I really sympathise with you on this one, I have been sick since June 2015 with all these MYSTERIOUS neurological symptoms. It has only been in the last few months that I came across people on real self who have had terrible side effects from Botox. Mine started with increasing tingling in my limbs which then led to numbness, loss of feeling, loss of coordination in legs, jittery feeling throughout my body, foggy head, funny turns, to the point where I was admitted onto the Stroke ward at my local hospital, followed by investigations twice to see if I had MS which All came back clear! This has gone on & on for two years and then I suddenly came across the real self website and had a lightbulb moment that it could be the Botox that I had been having every four months! It has actually been the worst two years of my life and that is putting it mildly! In the years that I would like to be enjoying my children while they are young I have gone from a healthy, happy confident mother, to an overweight tearful wreck really. No one really understands what this feels like and I feel people questioning if I have gone cuckoo! I believe in many years to come lots more people will be suffering and it will be eventually recognised by doctors & then people will realise what we sufferers have been going through. Luckily I work for a family business and they are very understanding otherwise my world could have collapsed over this situation. My last EVER Botox was January 2017 and I would say I am about half way recovered, I still have awful moments and I also have moments where I can carry on & completely forget about it. Good luck to you Denise, I hope you have a speedy recovery and I wish you all the best for the future. Xx

If you can read my original post on what happened to me, you will know, you are not alone. Botox ruined my life. I never fully recovered my memory. I did regain my ability to speak, and the dizziness, extreme brain fog finally after two years went away, but my memory/cognitive thinking never recovered fully. I saw neurologists at northwestern, & U of Chg. It's a nightmare. Sue the Dr & Allergan!!!!!
