Awake Motiva Preserve Breast Augmentation: 16 Days Post-Op

WORTH IT
If you’re reading this because you’re considering the Preserve technique or awake breast augmentation, I hope this helps!

I’m currently 16 days post-op, and I can honestly say this has been one of the best decisions I’ve made for myself.

For some background, I have malignant hyperthermia, a condition that makes general anesthesia risky for me, so avoiding it was very important. When I learned about the Preserve technique and that Dr. Butz offered it under local anesthesia, I spent months researching. At the time, there weren’t many patient reviews from people who had the Preserve technique done awake, so I wanted to share my experience.

I’ll be honest, I was pretty nervous. Even though I did all the research, the idea of doing this awake definitely freaked me out. In reality, it was nothing like I had built up in my head. Dr. Butz and his team did an incredible job making me feel comfortable from start to finish. Once the numbing medicine kicked in (it did burn a bit going in, but it was very manageable), I never felt pain. There was some pressure and pulling throughout, which was exactly what they prepared me for, but it was never scary or overwhelming. I couldn’t believe how fast it all happened or that I was literally able to get up off the surgical table and walk myself back to get dressed after. The drive home was a breeze, and I never had to deal with post-anesthesia nausea.

Recovery has honestly been so much easier than I expected. I took it easy the first couple of days, and sleeping upright wasn’t exactly my favorite part, but after that I pretty much started feeling like myself again. My pain was mostly gone by day 2 or 3, and each day has been noticeably better than the last.

One thing I really appreciated was how available Dr. Butz and his staff were before and after surgery. They checked on me, answered every question I had, and never made me feel like I was bothering them. Knowing I'm in good hands gave me a peace of mind during recovery.

As for my results… I absolutely love them so far!

I chose Motiva Ergonomix Mini implants because I wanted a natural look that fit my taller, slender frame and still looked like me. I also chose the Preserve technique because I’m very active, have small kids at home and wanted to minimize downtime as much as possible. I was able to start light workouts after my one-week post-op appointment and have gradually progressed since then. Even though I’m still early in the healing process, they already look better than I imagined. I know they still have some changing to do, but it’s honestly been so fun to wake up each morning and see how they’re progressing.

If I could give one piece of advice to anyone considering this surgery, it would be to trust the healing process. The first week is full of swelling, changes, and wondering if everything is normal. It really does get better every day.

I’m incredibly grateful to Dr. Butz and his entire team. Their surgical skill is obvious, but what stood out to me just as much was how genuinely kind and supportive they were throughout the entire experience.

If you’re considering the Preserve technique or an awake breast augmentation, I hope my experience helps ease some of your fears. I couldn’t be happier with my decision.

Thank you, Dr. Butz and team!
:)
