Last year, a Brazilian Butt Lift and Breast...
Last year, a Brazilian Butt Lift and Breast Augmentation were booked simultaneously with Dr. Moises Salama. The BBL was completed in September and my date for the BA finally came around at the end of March.
Being transgender, and transitioning later in life, presents different problems for the patient and surgeon when it comes to breast augmentation. At least I see it that way. With a larger rib cage, both in girth and depth, not to mention narrower hips than a cisgender woman; the danger is that, going too large can make the recipient look out of balance. Therefore, my request of Dr. Salama was to provide proportion and balance with a natural look. Having a more athletic shape, this meant having breasts you would likely see on a female athlete. Even in the waiting room at the Aventura office, the recognition by others as a fit and athletic woman told me "D's" would be too big. As I specifically told Dr. Salama in the moments before surgery (besides proportion, balance, and natural) was "classy... not trashy; at the largest, full C". I wanted to ensure I could still wear the dresses and other clothing in my closet. As someone who, pre-BA, was sexually harassed by the Houston TSA (as they childishly played "real, not real" and broadcast their belief that my breasts were "not real") just a month prior, I was incredibly sensitive to the lurid glances I may receive if I go too big.
As I've come to expect from Dr. Salama, he listened to my request and delivered exactly what I wanted. The post-surgery swelling put me at a small-D initially, but they quickly settled in just where I had hoped. The cisgender women friends I have all declared them "perfect" in every way; from the size to the gap to the evenness to the perkiness. Dare I say, they've all been very jealous of my new assets and have expressed their desire to have the same.
My under breast circumference is 35 inches and my breast diameter was 14 cm. I was already a small - B and was using push-up bras to reach a size that, sometimes, looked too big. The style and size I discussed in my original consultation was Allergan Natrelle style 15, Moderate Plus in the 421 - 492 range. Originally, the goal was thought (by me) to be full-C, small-D. Pre-surgery, the consideration of 371 or 397 was added, along with my comments, and the expression of full faith and trust in Dr. Salama's artistic eye as he checked the pre-implant sizers inside the under the muscle cavity. He chose the 397's, and I'm a happy gal. With the chest muscles genetics gave me, dropping and fluffing may take a bit longer... no matter.
As before, I can't say enough about everyone at Elite Plastic Surgery in Aventura, Florida. This time, besides Dr. Salama; I must offer tremendous gratitude and love for Nomie. Since I couldn't find a friend in Orlando to accompany me, and my couple friends in Miami were unable to help; it looked as if my BA was not going to be possible due to post-surgery care/companion being impossible. I was distraught. Nomie made my surgery date a reality by finding a nursing service that could be there for me when no one else could or would. Nomie... thank you from the bottom of my heart! I love you! Dr. Salama... once again, thank you for making my physical transformation a reality. You've given me confidence to step out as my real self; but above all, you've given me friendship and understanding. Your skill is amazing.
As with the few FFS adjustments I've had, the fervent (and often stated) goal was to not look like a cartoon. Whether you're cisgender or transgender, looking like a caricature can be not only ridiculous, but also dangerous. This procedure, once again, proved that a natural look is not only possible, it's desirable. You can stand out and garner admiration by being a strong and confident woman... in the way you dress, the way you walk, and the way you carry yourself when you walk down the street or enter a room. If surgery bolsters that confidence, then do it! Just don't let the surgery be the first thing or the only thing people see.
