Pros-
The results are very much like discussed during various consultations and pre-op meetings.
Surgery was scheduled and completed in less then 3 weeks and process went very smoothly
Instant results- from the moment I woke up, I could see the bandages and dressings and the similarity in size and shape of my operated leg to my non operated leg was very impressive and exciting
Reasonable cost- $7,7500 for everything including anesthesia, surgeon's fees, o.r. Time in state of the art, out-patient clinic, 2 custom implants, and all post op visits.
Was only one leg- this is a plus because the recovery is less stressful.
Cons-
Has been very painful but this is normal and expected
A little difficult as out of town patient, you really need someone to help you for the first few days post op. (Even if it's only 1 leg, simple tasks can be very painful and arduous)

I chose Dr. Sam Gershenbaum after long and careful research for a thorough surgeon. I was seeking a particularly skilled and experienced reconstructive surgeon for correction of muscle atrophy of one leg due to club foot. He seemed to have the most experience, expertise and confidence to help me achieve what I was looking for which was calf implants of the right leg to match my left leg which does not have muscle atrophy. 5 days after surgery, I can tell you he did not fail to deliver outstanding results. His staff really and truly go above and beyond in their care and attention both pre and post op. They are all very warm and comforting and do their best to make you feel at home, starting with Marcia, his patient coordinator. She is the biggest reason I chose the practice to begin with because she was extremely considerate and attentive through all communications and accommodating me as an out of town patient. She really care sand does a great job taking care of every last detail right up to the surgery date. Once I met Dr. Gershenbaum, I knew I had found the best surgeon to perform my procedure because first, he is an extremely good listener, has a great bedside manner and is very honest and open with his opinions. He won't coddle you and promise you the moon and stars. He is very matter of fact although he doesn't lack sympathy and compassion. I felt very secure and confident he would do a great job- and so far I absolutely love my results. The pain is still quite intense but getting better with each day. Both medial and lateral implants were placed in my right leg (which was once significantly smaller and almost completely devoid of a calf muscle) and it looks very much like, and matches my left leg, something that I didn't even think was possible. He achieved such a likeness in my legs that I am truly grateful and can say he is an extremely skilled, and artistic surgeon. My expectations, so far are definitely surpassed and Dr. Gershenbaum says they will only get better in the few and up coming months. I also want to especially thank his assistant Marlon, who is extremely charming and helpful both in and out of the O.R. He will make you smile and feel right at home, and has the best energy I've ever had the privilege to experience from anyone in his profession. If you want professionalism, the utmost care and most outstanding results- Dr. Gershenbaum is your surgeon.
