About 5 years ago I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's (Hypothyroid) Disease & have been struggling with weight loss ever since. I've tried every diet (liquid, fruit, gluten-free... even went vegan for a year) & workout routine (weights, cardio, aerobic, etc...) imaginable. No matter what I tried or how much I worked out the weight wouldn't come off - even running 5-8 miles every day in addition to everything else I was doing. I wasn't happy with the way I looked, even more upset that I wasn't seeing any results (inches or pounds), & it was beginning to be a MAJOR issue in my life. I felt like a piece of me was missing & I didn't know how to get it back. I started looking into lipo & was referred to Dr. Chike-Obi for SmartLipo. I was completely nervous & scared going into my consultation because having lipo was something I said I would never do; however, he made me feel comfortable & explained everything perfectly. A few days before my procedure I finally told my husband about it. He didn't want me to do it & tried to talk me out of it, but I didn't back out & it's the best decision I ever made. Dr. Chike-Obi even called me on a Saturday morning to make sure I was doing OK & to answer any additional questions. He made me look like me again before being diagnosed with Hashimoto's (Hypothyroid) Disease. I feel amazing & realize now that the piece of me that I thought was missing was just hidden under about 25 lbs of fat. I'm completely happy, I have my confidence back, I have my body back.... I have my life back! My husband says it's like having a brand new wife & that I'm a completely different person now (the girl he met 7 years ago). I feel amazing in everything & am proud to wear a bikini again. I workout 4-5 times per week (I LOVE going to the gym now) & eat healthy (mostly homemade meals). My husband laughs at how happy I get seeing my results improve every single day. He's a perfectionist & I'm so thankful that I was referred to him! There's not a day that goes by that I don't say a "Thank you!" to Dr. Chike-Obi whether in my head, on a Facebook post, to a friend / family, or someone I just met. I don't think words can ever express how happy I am & how this has completely changed my life (back to where I've always imagined it to be) - Thank you Dr. Chike-Obi (again & many times over)!

Wow! What a difference! I totally would like to try Smart Lipo after seeing your amazing results. Did you get the liquid sucked out or left in?
August 18, 2015
It was all sucked out. :)
August 19, 2015
You look amazing!!!!! Good for you! What areas did you have done and how quickly were you able to see results?
August 19, 2015
Thank you!

Basically I had everything between my bra line down to my knees done - inner & outer thighs, hips, upper & lower abs, "love handles" / flanks, upper & lower back (starting at the bottom of my shoulder blades down to the top of my butt).

The difference was noticeable instantly even with the swelling. But it really hit me when I first put on that bikini & took my own pics 6 weeks post-op & compared them to my "day of" pics.
August 19, 2015
Thanks! You really look amazing! How long did you wear the compression garments?
August 19, 2015
They're only required for 2 weeks for 24 hours a day and then an additional 2 weeks for about 12 hours per day. I wore mine for about 4 weeks or 5 weeks. Occasionally I would wear the waist garment during the 6th & 7th week if my mid-section started feeling tight, during a workout, or if I just did too much during the day.
August 19, 2015
Thank you!
August 19, 2015
Actually - correction - I think they're only required for 24 hours a day during the 1st week & 12 hours a day the 2nd week. I still wore mine for about 4 or 5 weeks.

Thanks for sharing.  Your results are stunning- I can't believe you are only 3 months post op, amazing!

August 19, 2015
Thank you! Dr. Chike-Obi & his staff were impressed as well when I went in at 6 weeks post-op. My endocrinologist has also been a big help since my procedure in helping my manage my thyroid meds & diet so I don't gain anything back.

I have a feeling that this is your real body, and that the Hashimoto's wasn't letting you just be you.  If that makes any sense.  Glad your physical self now matches all your hard work and your inner self :)

August 19, 2015
I completely agree! It's definitely worth it (for me anyway) to be back to my normal self. Thank you!

OMG I have have Hashimoto too and I've gained 65lbs
August 20, 2015
I'm 5'7", athletic, & have always weighed between 150-160. My before pics (Day of...) I weighed 188 (it would fluctuate between 179 & 185 usually, but on that day it was 188). I'm now at 165 (which was my goal & I'm happy with that). I do weights (10 sets of 12 for each muscle or I’ll switch it up & do 5 sets of 24) & abs (200-300) 4 times a week (takes about an hour each session & I work on 1 or 2 muscle groups each day so I’m always doing something different) with 40 minutes of either stair climber (level 7) or elliptical (I usually put it on the fat burn program, but I alternate between “running” forwards & backwards; 2 minutes each direction). I also run in the evenings with my dogs (5-8 miles a day) – it’s currently too hot for them so my husband has been running with me.
August 20, 2015
Since my procedure my endocrinologist put me on a new Rx that is supposed to help manage my weight better & wrote me out some instructions on eating 5 times a day with no more than 30 carbs for the 3 main meals & zero carbs if possible for the 2 snacks (I also stay at or below 1500 calories a day & try to burn more calories than what I eat), but I'm having my dosage increased next month so I should be able to get back into the 150-160 weight range..... which would be amazing!

I am so glad to read this I have the Hasimotos as well and have gained 30 lbs in 4 years, going from a size 6 to a 12!!! I sure do not feel like myself and depressed that my beautiful smaller clothes do not fit any more!!! I never has a weight problem until now, I even take Synthroid to keep things under control, but I feel out of control. I have been doing research looking into Coolsculpting and Smart Lipo. I'm leaning toward Smart Lipo.

I am just wondering if your doctor had any advise about what to do after due to the Hashimotos. I know that the weight can slowly come back, just wondering if he had any advise.

Congrats, you look great and even better you feel like yourself again!
August 20, 2015
That was me too…. from a 6/8 to a 12/14!!! I never had any weight issues until I got Hashimoto’s. I’m back down to an 8 now (but my wedding dress is a 6 & it now fits…. Better than the 1st time I think). Supposedly the SmartLipo is 100% permanent in the areas you get done; however, it is possible to get it back in other places. My doctor swears it’s permanent & I keep forgetting to ask him about any advice; however, he said I should be fine with keeping my results since I workout a lot & eat healthy (for the most part). My endocrinologist (on the other hand) since my procedure has taken me off of Synthroid & put me on ArmorThyroid (supposedly its better) to help manage my weight better, keep it off, & hopefully help loose a few more lbs. She also told me to eat 5 meals a day - the 3 main meals she wants to stay under 30 carbs & the 2 snacks she wants me to have ZERO carbs if possible. She insists on me eating breakfast; nothing big just a Greek yogurt is fine, so I rotate between that & a granola bar so I don't get bored. I also try to stay under 1500 calories per day & try to burn more calories than I consume.

Thank you!!!

Thank you so much for responding! I'm planning on getting married in 2017 and I want to look good in my dress in pictures and in person. It is a bit depressing trying on dresses now. I am headed to my Endoctinologist this week so I will ask about the Armor Thyroid. I exercise like crazy and eat like a bird so things might need to be switched up. But I am really considering Smart Lipo.

Thanks again and best of luck!!

No worries!!!!

Good luck at the Endocrinologist! Mine started me out at 60mg, but I see her again next month & will find out if I can be increased - I feel great at the current dosage, but could possibly use just a little boost. I was at 100mg on Synthroid.

SmartLipo was the best thing I ever did for myself & I have ZERO regrets about doing it. It was expensive, but it was money well spent. I would have done it sooner if I would have known how great it was going to make me feel & that it was going to turn me back into me again.

Thanks - you too!!!

You look awesome. I was wondering if you were in the gym since the smart lipo. I think I may consider this. Im not really for surgery but Im noticing sine losing weight after having a baby I still have those stubborn love handles. They were there even before I got pregnant. And after a lot of weight training they seem to not want to leave. In a few months I'm going to clean my diet up and see if that helps. If not then your result are definitely making me consider. Thank so much for sharing.
August 26, 2015
Thank you!

Before the lipo I was running 5-8 miles every day with my 2 dogs. Since the lipo I've been in the gym 4 times per week about 2 hours each time. I spend 30 mins to an hour doing weights (10 sets of 12 for each muscle or I’ll switch it up & do 5 sets of 24; about 30 seconds rest in-between sets - I work on 1 or 2 muscle groups each day so I’m always doing something different) & abs (200-300 take about 10-15 mins) 4 times a week with 40 minutes of either stair climber (level 7) or elliptical (I usually put it on the fat burn program, but I alternate between “running” forwards & backwards; 2 minutes each direction). I've ran 3 times since the lipo with my husband, but only 3 miles each time. Last night was cool enough for the dogs so we did 4 miles. My rest days are Wednesday, Saturday, & Sunday; but I do workout on those days as well from time to time with my hubby in addition to my normal days.

As far as diet goes.... My endocrinologist wrote me out some instructions on eating 5 times a day with no more than 30 carbs for the 3 main meals & zero carbs if possible for the 2 snacks. I also stay at or below 1500 calories a day & try to burn more calories than what I eat. I don't eat fast food, pizza, burgers, fries, soda, or anything like that.

I keep track of everything on my phone so I always know where I’m at with food & exercise throughout the day. Sometimes (usually Sundays) I forget to update my phone; but that’s always the day that I eat the least amount of food.

It's definitely the best money I have ever spent on myself! It literally changed my life in a great way & I can't thank Dr. Chike-Obi enough for making me look like me again!

Awesome. You kind of sound like me. I could live in the gym if they would let me. Its really encourage to see someone who has made these changes in their life. Your results look amazing. Thanks again.
