10 days post kybella

Swelling has subsided but still about twice as big as normal under my chin/neck. Still sore to the touch and a little jiggly. So far I have to say it is not worth the money. My chin/neck looks worse now than when I started this process. I am disappointed.

I am 5'7" and weigh 150 lbs. Due to weight gain over the last year, I've developed a slight double chin that really bothers me. The nurse at my med spa mentioned Kybella and after much online research I decided to take the plunge. First let me say that I have a pretty high tolerance for pain and recently had breast augmentation surgery and was unable to take pain killers afterward. The pain with breast augmentation was bearable. Kybella is pretty darn painful. My neck area was numbed with ice and the injections alone did not hurt. What happened after the injections was a pain like I've never felt before that spread from my chin to neck to jawline to ears and then up the base of my skull. I thought for sure I was going to get a migraine because the pain was so intense. I iced the area and went home to rest and ice. My neck was unbelievably swollen and remains swollen 4 days later. The swelling has subsided some but my neck is now floppy and a little numb. I was unable to open my mouth very wide for the first few days so eating was a little difficult. I am now able to open my mouth wider but my jaw hurts a bit and I have some pain in throat when I swallow. I am hoping that my saggy chin/neck return to normal because what I have now is way worse than what I started with 4 days ago pre-Kybella. If I don't see some remarkable changes soon I don't think I will be able to go through with the second treatment. The floppy, swollen neck is very undesirable. If you decide to do Kybella, know that this is not a walk in the park injection like Botox or fillers. You might experience some downtime, you will experience swelling and some pain and results for me have been slow to non existent. If you have a pain killer, take it before you go and know that it hurts. I still went out and ran errands that day because I had a friend visiting from out of town but if I could've stayed in bed, I would have... for two days :-(
