Eye Bags and Tear Troughs

So here’s the latest photo one year later. This photo is taken in natural light and has no filter. There’s still a very slight trench due to the implant not filling the entire area (my troughs were deep and the mfr doesn’t make large enough implants.) Overall I’m very pleased with the result and feel it’s a natural and realistic look for 50.

Thank you for posting a picture and giving us an update. You look fabulous! Clearly 50 is the new 40 (for you)!!! So the implants don't move or cause your eyes to swell, tear up, get irritated, etc.? Any further advice would be greatly appreciated. Cheers, HF
No, the implants do not move. Think of it like shrinkwrap, where the surrounding tissue just grabs the implant and holds it in place. I have zero eye irritation Overall a great result. I just wish the implants were slightly larger for those of us who have larger troughs.

I agree that the procedure was very successful and you look great! Thank you for sharing so much of your experience with us!
One more quick question (and sorry if this is explained somewhere else) but how do the implants stay in place? Are they screwed in? Lastly, do you know if there's a chance of going blind from this type of operation??? I'm seriously considering this so any other info would help. THX SO MUCH! HF
I just had mine one two weeks ago. Have a phone consultation. They go over every possible issue even if it’s rare. I heard nothing about going blind. No screws in bone which made me happy. Any bone surgery is very painful. Think of breast implants, they put them in a pocket they don’t screw them to bone. I’m old and it’s the best surgery I’ve ever done. So happy with it. Better than fillers. Mine was $6400 for Lip and tear trough implants. My doctor does more of those surgeries than anyone in US. At least check it out.
Hi. Do you have any before & after photos posted? Thanks
I went to the same doctor! He held up different sized implants so I could see the difference.
I’m three weeks out right from tear trough implants and lip implants. I’m so happy win them so far. Huge difference. He’s the guy to go to for that surgery. You look amazing! I wish this had been an option hen I was young.

ORIGINAL POST

In the past five years I had noticed crevices...

In the past five years I had noticed crevices under my eyes which were becoming quite deep. I have always had eye puffiness and expected "bags" due to genes, but this was more than that. This wasn't something concealer could correct.
I went to an aesthetician who suggested filler. My troughs were so deep the filler was absorbed. Waste of $1,200!!
I was nervous to have my bags done because I knew it was more than fat under my eye. The deep trough bothered me more. I started researching tear trough treatment and stumbled upon this site and learned a local doctor does implants. I saw some before-and-afters, and was sold.
Dr. Apostolakis is all business. He's honest ... and there's no upsell. One thing I liked is that he explained how fillers replaced implants but recognized that it's just not cost-effective for all patients to have filler every couple months. He further explained that with a lower bleph only, sometimes removing the fat creates an even greater hollow so the implant-bleph combo works better for my situation.
The morning of surgery he studied my face and recognized I was noticeably asymmetrical and decided to do fat transfer also (one cheek to the other). I think I look 20 years younger without looking like I've had "work."
Not gonna lie. I swole up like a balloon for a couple days. I was scared. My face was tight, just didn't look like me. However, 9 days later I see the transformation and cannot wait for the remaining swelling to subside.
Highly recommend Dr. A and his professional staff.

Looking great, thanks for posting. I did not there were implants for under the eye. What are they made of?
silicone
I liked the result a lot , Please keep posting as the goes by.
did you just do fat transfer or what exactly did you get done in all
Do they secure the implants with microscrews? Are you under local or put under for the surgery? thanks in advance!
The way it was explained to me is that once they place the implant, it's sort of like shrinkwrap in that your tissues just grab onto it and it stays in place. You are put under general anesthesia for a very short time.
so it’s been awhile so re thy still good? I have. consult with the same doctor as you. I’ll ask doctor about micro screws, that’s ht I was told by mother doctor. Thy charged over $13k though!
sorry for the mess of. reply! can’t edit!
You got an absolutely beautiful result. My problem is identical to yours, deep tear troughs more than extra fat. Especially when I lose weight, I end up looking cadaverous and hollow! Wish I lived near Austin - I'll look for someone in the Philly area. Thanks for posting - you've given me hope!
