I'd like to thank Dr. Whitfield and Staff for the highest degree of skill, compassion, personal attention and concern for me over several surgeries for breast cancer reconstruction. I think I may have been one of his toughest cases, after coming to him from Missouri with 2 failed breast reconstruction results due to poor standard of care. I was referred to him, and very quickly he obtained my medical records, set me up an appt and created for me a caring enviroment as I flew into Austin. I knew immeadiately that I he was the right doctor. He took time to study my poor status and took compassion on me and told me that he could help me, despite my disfigurement. He was honest, up front, realistic and confident that I could "fix" this nightmare of breast cancer reconstruction. He handled all the details of my many surgeries needed to get me whole again. His attention to detail, how I felt, pre and post surgical care was top notch. He responded quickly to my calls to his office if needed. My only mistake is that I did not choose him as my Breast reconstruction doctor to begin with! If I had I would have never had to go through the 4 years of suffering. It was a successful journey of 2+years getting me back to "normal" but his compassion and confidence was felt through each step of my journey back to wholeness. Dr. Whitfield changed my life for the good. I consider him as more than a doctor after our long journey to wellness.

Dr. Whitfield in short summary was very educated, calm, professional, diagnostically accurate and a very skilled surgeon. He was very compassionate, listened well, explained well and overall was there for me during every step, question, etc. He was at my bedside(with great bedside manners) before surgery, upon awakening and during each follow up visit. Almost all of my office visits were with him seeing me, not someone else. He was very attentive to details, outcome and aftercare of my multiple surgeries for breast cancer reconstruction. He has always followed me up with personal phone calls to see how I was doing...even when I was back home in Kansas City. I will only choose Dr. Whitfield for any future needs if they arise. He can be trusted with your surgical needs.
