Kybella After Blepharoplasty Swelling
ORIGINAL POST
I had a lower blepharoplasty with tear trough...
$1,995
I had a lower blepharoplasty with tear trough implants in Sept 2016, with significant swelling after the procedure. Even after my face largely returned to normal, I felt like I had new jowling, and poorer lower facial tone, after the surgery-- the area above my upper lip, and the tip of my nose, are only just now starting to regain feeling post-blepharoplasty, and this is 8 month post-op for me.
In light of all this, I had Kybella injections with a local aesthetic practice in April 2017:
I'm not going to lie, and I'm echoing some of the other sentiments here-- I felt UGLY after this procedure. I may have swollen and bruised with the surgery last fall, but that was no comparison to the HUGE double chin, thick jowls, and general facial distortion I had following Kybella. Day 6 post-injections was the absolute worst.... I think many of us here at Real Self have some self-esteem issues tied to our physical appearance, and on day 6, mine was so low, I was literally crying upon glancing myself in the mirror. It was bad.
It was literally depressing.
The post-injection effects (bullfrog neck, wobble) truly did alter both how I perceived myself, and how I felt I presented to others, professionally and personally.
The injections themselves?
Well, those were also pretty uncomfortable.
The RN warned me these shots "sting a little." NOTHING could've prepared me for the venomous burn the whole right side of my neck felt within 3 minutes of receiving the first of 30+ of these injections in a single sitting..... my ears rushed, my skin beaded with a cold sweat, I wasn't sure if I'd pass out or throw up first. Needless to say, a tad more "sting" than I was expecting, and a bit beyond the realm of Botox and Juvederm if you have prior experience with those.... note to self: ask to be fully horizontal on the table for round 2.
So here we are at 4 weeks post-Kybella, though, and I can't honestly say I see any difference?
I have, for better or worse, lost about 5 lbs since receiving these shots, and am really not sure which has effected my jawline more?? I'll go back in for round 2 in another four weeks or so, but right now, my perception is that this really could be around $2000 for the most minimal of gains.... and that's assuming round 2 does have any real and lasting impact on my face. :0(
