I'm a 36 y/o male that has been living with gynecomastia for the better part of 4-5 years. I can't pinpoint a specific time that I noticed the breast tissue growth, but I do know that it has been very painful if direct pressure is applied to either side of my chest. One of my hobbies is mixed martial arts/Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, so direct pressure to my chest is a common occurance. I am also a Paramedic, so lifting a stretcher occasionally puts pressure on my chest. That also resulted in a sharp pain in my chest. I was told that pain reduction isn't a primary reason to have this procedure, but often the pain is reduced or alleviated as a result of the surgery.
It has now been approximately 26 days since Dr. Castillo performed my procedure and I am thrilled with the results. The first week it was necessary to have help at home. After a week my wound drains were removed and I was able to do everything without assistance. I went back to work after 14 days. And now at day 26 I am doing cardio and body weight exercises without any issues.
The contour of my chest has gone from a bit feminine to unmistakably masculine. My nipples are slightly inverted, but this is due to the residual swelling from the procedure. All completely normal for this stage of the healing process. With time, the swelling will diminish and the nipples will appear normal again.
I am very satisfied with the results of my surgery. Given the chance to do it again, the only change would be to do it sooner.
