I Just Knew That Getting my Insurance to Approve This Was Going to Be Difficult........ - Atlanta, GA

ORIGINAL POST

I have been waiting to do this for what seems like...

Longoverdue
$3,000
I have been waiting to do this for what seems like an eternity......... And the funny thing is I always thought that the insurance approval process was going to be so discouraging and they would send me through so many hoops that I had made up my mind that I was just going to pay for it myself! Because to me the worst thing would have been for me to go through all the consults and questions and the emotional process just for them to tell me to lose 50 lbs or to go to physical therapy for 6 months and come back and try again. Honestly when you have been so big (42K) for so long (almost 20 years) you become so accustomed to the pain, rashes etc. you just learn to live with them. Ya know? If I had paid a copay to see a chiropractor or PT for every time I had issues with my breasts........ I would be living in a box. Lol. Aren't the grooves in my shoulders enough? Or how about the discoloration under my breast from numerous rashes? Seems like a no brainer to me. Pardon my cynicism.

So when I knew I was at a place physically (dropped 50 lbs), mentally, and financially where I could do it I went in for the consult in April of this year. We submitted the request to my insurance company as a formality but since I had just switched carriers in Febuary and I am self employed so I just knew denied was what I was going to hear ...... Boy Was I WRONG!!! I got approved the SAME DAY the lady from the PS office sent in my paperwork. She said that this was the fastest she had ever gotten an approval for a procedure like mine. When I tell you that I was floored would be an understatement! This has to be a sign right??? The stars are aligning just for me? My surgery is in less then 2 weeks....... So my question is.........

WHY AM I A BUNDLE OF NERVES???????

Dont get me wrong........ You dont have to talk me off the ledge or anything (theres no way I am cancelling)...... Lol.

So I am here, on real self 2 weeks before my surgery never thinking that I would make a profile.... just remain a stalker of all of yours :-) Honestly it has been such a big help that maybe my experience may help someone else who thought the way I did and push them to do the consultation and submit the paperwork. What's the worse that can happen? So I am here. Finally. Logged in.

Thank you

I've heardrum great things about DR Larsen. I'm looking to have breast reduction myself. I see that you paid $3000. The question is.....did your insurance pay the $3000 or is that the balance after the your insurance paid their share? It's my first time and I really need answers for the cost of the procedure. Thank in Advance.

I really enjoyed Dr. Larsen for my breast reduction he was knowledgeable skilled and I couldn't be happier. If you are on the larger side, I was a K, let him take more out. At first I was apprehensive because one doctor recommended taking out less cc's and Larsen was taking out alot more but in the end it was exactly what was needed because after your breast get back to normal it will fill out and be perfect. As for insurance the 3000 was my co pay which im pretty sure was 2000 and 1000 was extra anesthia bill be prepared for that they give you a low ball estimate on anesthia but then bill you after the fact if they need to use more. But that was the hospital not the doctor. I have my own insurance its not through my job so if you have it through your job it should be considerably less. I know some friends of mine that paid 500/1000 for there procedure and they had company health insurance. Hope this helps
