Excellent. I went to the Anderson Center for Hair...

Excellent. I went to the Anderson Center for Hair Restoration after extensive research about all centers in the Southeast. I had thinning hair up front and wanted to fill in before it was too far gone. He had the best credentials and best reviews and so I gave a consultation a shot. His staff was incredibly professional and helpful and the education on what was going on, how it would be treated, the expected outcomes, the process... It was quite possibly the best medical experience I've ever had. Thorough, professional, and absolutely spot on. I delayed a few months between the consultation and the procedure and had to reschedule due to my own scheduling conflicts - they were very accommodating.
I ended up having An ARTAS Robotic Hair transplant (they buzz the whole head). I chose this method over the traditional incision as I tend to scar pretty bad and I didn't want any telltale signs. The day of the procedure went exactly as described and the pre-op prep was very good - all medications were called in and ready to be picked up without my having to do anything other than go to the pharmacy and then show up on time.
The procedure itself took the entire day - I started at 8:00 and was home by 5:00. I was sedated throughout the bulk of the procedure - sleepy, but conscious. The scalp is numb throughout the entire procedure and Doctor Anderson describes each step of the process. His bedside is professional and communicative as is that of his staff.
After the procedure, you will likely need a ride home due to the muscle relaxers and pain medication. After the procedure, there was a specific 10 day recovery process that specifically lays out how to treat the donor and transplant area. This process as well as medication is clearly detailed in an instruction packet sent home with you. The post operative medication is a Steroid, Antibiotic, and OTC pain medication.
The healing process takes 10 days. I would recommend getting it done on a Friday and taking the following week off from work. Plan not to go anywhere during the week you take off. There is a little discomfort, but the OTC pain meds were more than enough.
The only recommendation I would have is to request that prior to the grafts being put into the donor holes, ask that the hair be uniformly cut to length. The donor location is trimmed very tight and the recipient area is left slightly longer (so Dr. Anderson can see how the hair naturally sits and falls). Once he makes the holes, in the donor area, I asked that the hair be trimmed to even length on m whole head - that way, once the procedure was complete, it looked as if I just had a buzz cut.
I would highly recommend Dr. Anderson and his staff. If only General Practice was as thorough and professional as this...
