I'm going to give a little background about my experience/history with fillers and Botox because it will provide more context to why I think Dr. Mehta is so amazing.

I'm 32 years old and have been getting Botox since I was about 26 or 27, when I started noticing furrows forming between my brows. They weren't severe, but I wanted to nip them in the bud before they got worse, which has worked like a charm. I used to always furrow my brow when I was concentrating or thinking and people were constantly asking me "What's wrong? You look mad!" Getting Botox broke me of this habit and now I hardly ever furrow my brow, even when I've gone a year or longer without getting a Botox injection. So for anybody out there in their twenties thinking about Botox, don't listen to anybody who tells you that you're "crazy" for getting it so young, you will be thankful you did when you're older. Like Benjamin Franklin said "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure."

Over the years I've gone to many different doctors (although most weren't actually doctors) for Botox. I've never stuck with one doctor, for various reasons, mostly location. I've never been so impressed by any of them that I would go out of my way to continue seeing them if it became geographically inconvenient. I think Botox has become so commonplace that most doctors don't bother explaining the approach to you, especially if you've been getting it for years. Not Dr. Mehta, he takes time to explain where he would inject you and why, which muscles it affects and how this affects your appearance and the outcome you desire. He also explains how you can achieve certain outcome with different approaches, for example, I like to get Botox to give my outer eyebrow some lift. He told me that this can also be achieved by putting filler in the temple area and since I was getting filler in my cheeks, he suggested we also put some in the temple area , which would not only lift my brows but would enhance the overall effect by giving my face more of the heart shaped appearance you lose with age. He said if I wanted more lift we could always add some Botox. As for the actual filler, we decided on Juvederm XC rather than Radiesse or Voluma, the reason being I'm planning on getting revision rhinoplasty (I will post a separate review on my rhinoplasty consult but I fully intend on going with Dr. Mehta) this coming January and I want to get fat grafted to my face at the same time. Dr. Mehta suggested I go with a filler that doesn't last as long and is less expensive since I plan on getting the fat grafts in a few months anyway. Makes complete sense. Dr. Mehta truly has an artist's aesthetic, he looks at your entire face like a canvas and takes into account how each element works together and how each treatment will change your overall appearance. It's like going to a 3 star Michelin rated restaurant where the chef creates a full course menu that is harmonious and balanced, rather than going to a tapas restaurant and just ordering a bunch of stuff a la carte. Except this is your face we're talking about, you don't want to "a la carte" your face. Additionally, for those of you concerned with the pain factor, Dr. Mehta used the cannula method for fillers (another thing I'd never heard of until Dr. Mehta educated me) which means he only has to stick you once in the area to be treated with a needle and then he sticks the cannula in that same hole to fill the area. He applied a bit of topical lidocaine but that's all and the pain is completely bearable. I wouldn't even classify it as "pain," it's more of a pressure in your cheek when he starts injecting. Seriously, I've had hang nails that hurt worse than this, not a big deal at all. Like me, you may be a bit skeptical reading all the rave reviews for Dr. Mehta, seems a bit too good to be true, right? It's not, he is the real deal, and if you're skeptical, all you have to do is schedule a consult to see for yourself. He's the type of person who immediately puts you at ease and is completely "present" for the duration of the appointment. I'm so happy I don't have to keep "doc hopping." :)
