Is my new nose too high?
Ok, so the cast is off. I'm 12 days post. Adding before/after comparison pics.
On the spectrum of conservative to dramatic, is the increase in tip height a subtle result or a more noticeable result? How natural does it look? I still look Asian, right?
I think the increase in tip height is super noticeable to me, and I have feelings of "nice nose, but not my nose." What's throwing me off is also the more aggressive slope transitioning from bridge to tip.
But I also realize that maybe it just takes time for me to get used to it. For people meeting me for the first time, would they think it's perfectly natural looking?
I requested a conservative change, said I was basically happy with bridge and nose height, and mainly wanted the nostrils narrowed to improve the front profile, and a little more height between the eyes to elongate my nose.
I think there's swelling between the eyes and that will come down. But I don't think the tip will come down because I feel hard bone there.
I fully appreciate that this is not a Donald Yoo beak - I specifically mentioned during consultation that I thought Dr. Yoo's noses looked terrible and way too overdone. So that's good.
I understand that it can take some time to get used to a new nose after rhino, and I'm going to try to withhold judgement for a while.
But I also feel weird that there are all these reviews on here of girls who are super happy with their noses right off the bat, and I'm not one of them. I don't have these unqualified feelings of elation. I kind of miss my old nose, especially from the profile view.
I think Dr. Kwon is a great doctor btw, he is a patient and kind doctor who I feel genuinely tries to do his best for patients. Maybe I'm just not cut out for rhinoplasty.

Not Happy with Communication and Lack of Post-op Instructions
I went into this surgery really excited, but I have been disappointed at the lack of clear communication both about what to expect from the procedure as well as lack of post-op instructions.
I was sent home with no post-op instructions. Why not? How hard is it to type up a page of basic care instructions? In a previous surgery with another doctor, I had multiple pages of post-op instructions. Here I had no idea how to even care for my incisions.
How soon can I shower? Should I tape my incisions or leave them open? Should I be applying Neosporin? Should I be cleaning them? When can I take off my compression garment?
Speaking of the chin lipo compression garment, the surgical center “ran out” of compression garments. So I was sent home in a hokey bandage wrap that was coming apart, while I waited two days for the garment I ordered off Amazon to arrive. I still have no idea whether I’m putting this on correctly.
I felt bad calling Dr. Kwon at home, but the only other option is Lilit, and she’s given me some pretty bad medical advice. She's been kind as a patient coordinator, but I don’t think she’s a Registered Nurse. For example, I asked her to please take a look at whether I was putting on the garment from Amazon tightly enough. She said “don’t worry about it, if it bothers you can even leave it off.” Umm I’m pretty sure that’s like the #1 no-no of lipo procedures. Googling other doctors’ websites, it seems like they tell you to keep it on religiously for a minimum of 72 hours up to a couple of weeks so that your skin can adhere properly to the underlying tissues.
I also had other questions, like WHERE EVEN ARE MY INCISIONS? I was cut so many times I lost count of them. I tried to take off a bloody bandage behind my ear only to find out it was STAPLED to my ear.. not cool.
This leads to my other complaint.. which was kind of a bait and switch regarding whether I would be able to use donor rib and porcine mesothelium to minimize the number of times I had to get cut. I was cut in so many more places that I expected.
I do not like getting cut more than necessary. I’ve got two young kids at home who need me to care for them. One of the primary reasons I chose Dr Kwon was that I thought he was a good dude, and he allowed for use of donor rib and porcine mesothelium so that I didn’t have to get cut in the head and in the rib myself.
Unfortunately, the day before the procedure, Dr. K said he didn’t want to use the porcine mesothelium. I’m still not sure exactly why. Maybe the surgical center ran out of that one too? But I had to get an extra cut in the head because of it, and I don’t appreciate that. It hurts whenever I open my right jaw and I can’t chew using my right side. My head on the right side feels tight. I also can’t sleep on my right side. According to google, mesothelium tissue helps regulate response to injury, infection, disease, and inflammation. My head wants its tissue back.
As for the results, I know it's too early to tell, but my right nostril has consistently been a tad larger than my left nostril for the past couple of days. I'm concerned but also hesitant to make a judgement yet because I know it could be from swelling, etc.
Overall, I feel that things were not explained well to me, like post-op instructions, and where and how many times I would have to get cut. I also have a hilariously bright yellow gauze stapled to the center of my forehead which I also did not expect.. this will be great conversation piece when I go pick up the kids.
