Asian Rhinoplasty

First of all before you get yourself into this procedure, you've got to be Physically, Mentally, and Emotionally prepared and ready as this whole journey will put your life to the next level of anxiety, excitement, frustration, and satisfaction. The process of going through it is not easy as it may seem, you may find Youtube vlogs about rhinoplasty seems appealing but there is a flaw on it. It doesn't really fully educate viewers and potential patients the whole journey and what needs to be expected. I guess it's a favorable to say that, surgery is a risk so do a lot of research on which doctor you feel comfortable and competent that will address your issues. And oh before I forgot one's pointy nose could look good on a certain person but it couldn't flatter on someone elses. You have to consider your own Facial features so that you won't fall in a wrong decision later on. Anyways so I did my first ever rib cartilage septorhinoplasty and midface augmentation at VIP Plastic Surgery in Seoul, Korea. Doctor Myung Ju Lee and his staff took good care of me throughout the process. I stayed there for two weeks and everyday they have the daily doctor's cleaning and dressing, and after that you'll get a facial treatment and hair shampoo as well. Dr. Lee and the whole staff are very accommodating, so are the sweet consultants Chloe and Dani. And yeah so back to my recovery phase that first week is unbearable, I didn't think too much of it until I was already on that situation, nasal congestion and swelling is crazy! Though I'm lucky enough that I didn't get much bruising in my eyes, the congestion and swelling is the annoying part for me but eventually it all swell down. Thanks for the icepacks, that's your friend for the first week. Lol. I'm a very complicated patient and I tend to ask numerous questions just to make sure that I'll be okay. On my 8th day the cast was removed, Idk what to feel but nose looks weird to me, it looks like a swollen tomato. Idk what to feel that time and I kept asking Dr. Lee and Chloe if this is just temporary and they assure me that the swelling will go down eventually just give it time. But everyday is challenging for me and I would say each day is a discovery because there's one day I like the angle of my nose but there are days that it looks weird. I'm only on my third week post op so it's too early to say about the outcome of my nose, Doctor told me that it will take 6 months to a year to see the final result. Attach to this are my photos before and after the procedure, I have a short nose but I do have a cute face that can pull it off, but I decided to get it done since I'm tired of always have to use make up to contour and filtered apps just to give it definition. I do like my bridge now, it's just the midbridge down to my tip are still swollen it looks disproportion to me as of now. And I still sleep on my back. The pain on my rib incision is almost gone, just mild discomfort that's all. Will update more on my 3rd month.

Thanks for the helpful info! How much did this all cost? And did they offer flexibility in payment options?

$15,000 USD for the two procedures, I paid in cash. If you pay in card I believe you'll get a tax refund. I think you could negotiate and ask for discount if you're planning to do multiple procedures.

Hi! Thanks for sharing your experience. I am also interested in having a rhinoplasty and doing the mid face augmentation. Have you noticed any changes when smiling due to the mid face augmentation? Does it look off or feel weird? Also I am curious about how big is the scar over your rib? Did you get rib cartilage inserted into your mid face? Thank you :)

Upper lips will be stiff after the midface augmentation but slowly I could move it now but still hasn't back to normal yet. I spoke to one lady who also had it and she said she able to smile and open her mouth normal in 2-3 months.

Today marks my 3rd month and I’m happy to say that my side profile looks good. I could finally smile now showing my teeth but it kinda looks weird since my tip still swollen so the front profile of my nose looks big whenever I smile. I don’t appreciate my front profile yet but we’ll see the progress as swollen tip continues to go down. Btw I’m experiencing allergies right now I could finally sneeze through my nose, sometimes I have nasal drip as well I informed VIP consultants about it and they said Dr. Lee advised that I could still use saline wash whenever I need it. I’m comfortable now sleeping on my side but I’m still being cautious not to put too much pressure on my nose. So far I like the results, only subtle change but people think I look different from how I was before. It looks so natural that they can’t figure out what I’ve done in my face. They said I look younger. Hmm? We’ll see how it goes in 6 mos. and throughout the year.

Wow! Your results look great! Where are the incisions for the midface augmentation made? Does your face feel normal yet? Or is there still stiffness?

Hello! Thank you :) I only have incision in between my nostrils which is my columella. I still feel stiffness in the base of my nose but just a little. The stiffness is just mild and has gotten better compare to my 1st month

Hello I'll be posting my 6th month post op next month. :) btw I want to know if what scar cream you're using for your rib incision site?

Thanks sis! How was it? How's your healing?Does it makes the scar less visible at least? Is it available over the counter like at cvs? I will post my 6th month post op next month since I'm still waiting if there would be some changes couple weeks from now. although I could tell there is a difference compare to my 3rd month post op.
