Looking Forward to my Biltmore Lift

I have been reading RealSelf reviews for almost 2 years and have read about such positive experiences with Dr. Harley that I am now scheduled for October 26. My husband was originally going to come with me but is now unable to. I contacted Molina and she is available for my first 24 hours. She will take me for the surgery and stay with me until I go back the next day for the drain and bandage removal. I am excited, nervous, anxious, but can't wait to do this. I will be staying at the Marriott Residence Inn until the stitches come out. I'm definitely looking for encouragement!

You are going to look great!!! And everyone just loves him and his results, so I'm thinking you will be thrilled!! I wish I could have gotten in sooner, but the word is out now now about how great he is, so it's quite a wait now... I can tell you that I can't wait to go for my BL!!! I'm gonna start a review soon with my Before pics. I know how the anticipation is right before surgery. I was SO preoccupied last year before my Upper and Lower Blepharoplasty. And the closer it gets, it's about all you can think about!!! So you are just a little over a week away!!! Yayy!!! Please keep us posted!! Love her hair color by the way!!!

Thank you! I'm really busy at work preparing to take two weeks off so that helps during the day but I wake up now with butterflies in my stomach. Do you have a surgery date?
User Avatar
October 16, 2017
I sent my pics last week and got a consultation for January. I'm hoping for surgery in March, but I could just about go at a moments notice if they had a cancellation sooner. I'm driving from Nashville so it's only about 4 hours away. Oh yes, those butterflies I know them all to well :). But this is a good thing to have butterflies about :). Where are you coming from?? Sorry I've read so many reviews or beginning reviews, you may have said but it's a little hard to follow these threads on my phone. Probably need to download the app. Not sure how I'd like it though. Anywho... I'm excited for you and for all the ladies going to get a BL!!!
October 16, 2017
I got in on the 26th because of a cancellation. Maybe you will be able to get one also; especially if you can be flexible.
I'm from No.Cal. I'm flying across the country for this surgery but am totally convinced that Dr. Harley is the best for the neck and lower face. There are so many great reviews and pictures. I hope I get to meet some of the women having the same surgery the week I am there.

Oh wow!! Cross country adventure!!! Great choice though!! Yes I have my fingers crossed for a cancellation!! I do wish you the very best and beautiful results, which I'm sure you will get with Dr. Harley!! And hopefully you can get together with some of the other ladies there too!!! Keep us posted :) I think you will be in good hands with the TLC ladies as well!! Everyone says they are great!! Sounds like you're all set!! When were you originally scheduled for??
October 17, 2017
Hi!! Did u have your date book? My consultation date is Jan 3 but heck seeing how far hes booked I emailed Lauri and paid for March 15 lol! A bit impulsive in my part to do that with out even talking to the Dr. But Lauri said she showed my pics to Dr. Harley and I'm a good candidate for the lift.
October 17, 2017
I sent in pictures which Dr. Harley reviewed. I said that I would take any cancellation in October or November and they gave me the October 26th date. I was ecstatic that they had that date available. I fly to Ashville a week from tomorrow. I'm really excited but starting to feel really nervous also. I will update after my surgery and post "after" pictures too.

That's awesome!! So they let you go ahead and pay the deposit and book the surgery?? I didn't know that was possible, but I may try that as well!! Where are you coming from and where are you staying?? Is anyone coming with you or are you hiring TLC?? Impulsive might be the smartest/best move in this situation!! He's getting really really booked!!!
October 17, 2017
Yes, once they offered the date I booked and paid the deposit immediately (same day). I'm flying out from California by myself. My husband was originally going to come with me but had to back out due to work constraints. I booked Molina to take me to the surgery, stay with me afterwards until the next day when I go back in to get the bandage off and drain out. Juanita recommends Molina and said I will get great care. It will be strange to not have my husband with me but it seems like a lot of women come by themselves so I think I will do just fine.

That's great!! Hopefully they will call me sooner :). I can tel by your bone/jawline shape that you will have beautiful results!! Yes, Oct. 26 is getting close now!! You will be in Asheville when the fall colors are starting to get really pretty!! You can do this on your own, with Molina's help!!
It's all going to turn out great!! We will all be looking forward to your pics and how you are doing!! You'll be fabulous for the holidays!!
October 17, 2017
Yea they let me do it. At 1st she told me over email the soonest phone consultation is Jan 3 and then it might take another 3 -5 mos to book for the surgery. And I dont want to look puffy when the weather is nice outside. I asked her if there's any open date for surgery not consultation and she said theres 1 opening for March 5 and few till end of March. I booked for March 12. They only do surgery monday and Thursday. I will have my consultation/meeting with Dr. Harley March 14. I will be flying from Chicago. My husband wanted to tag along but with our son's school and plane tickets I prefer to go by myself. I have the info for TCL. I will email them and other places see how much they charge. I haven't check hotels yet. But i will for sure prefer closer to the clinic I have no plan for sightseeing lol. According to the info sheets I only need Someone with me after surgery and then the following day when they remove the drain. So 3 days probably Good?
October 17, 2017
How many days you book Molina? Is 3 days good? Do you have any idea if its a round the clock care?
User Avatar
October 17, 2017
From what I've read yes it is round the clock care. Sounds like if I want a March surgery I may need to call and go ahead and call with a deposit in order to not have to wait till next fall!! I think 3 days will be plenty with TLC.
October 18, 2017
Yea something like that. There's only few spot available for March so if you're really 101% sure just book the date. You will have your consultation the day before the surgery anyway. U can ask all the questions u want only thing tho if u change your mind there goes the deposit down the drain :( . But the good thing tho we might have the same day hahha. I am excited for everyone here. I really wish everyone the best.
October 18, 2017
I booked Molina for 24 hours or until I go back the next day for the bandage and drain removal. I plan to stock up on food prior to surgery so that after the first 24 hours I should be able to take care of myself. I'll let you all know how that goes.
User Avatar
October 18, 2017
So your surgery is March 12 or March 14?? I'm 110% sure I want to have this done, by him specifically. He is only going to get more booked and inevitably more expensive.
User Avatar
October 18, 2017
Yes for sure!! Will be watching for your updates and wishing you all the best!!
October 20, 2017
Thank you! I hope everything goes well. I will probably do the same thing. Let us know if there's any grocery store nearby. Dont forget the blueberries and pineapples.
October 20, 2017
It's March 15 that's my surgery date. But I will be flying to NC the day before the surgery to meet him in person and also to gather the stuff I need food, water etc. 5 months still seems a long way to go sighhh but at least March still cold I can just wear scarf and holidays are over.
October 20, 2017
And yea i agree. The prices for surgeries seems jumping up quite high. I was planning of getting it done initially in chicago. But its so expensive almost 2 yrs ago I had a quote for only 4,800 then last month I went back to see the same Dr. he now charge 10,500 for neck lift alone. And for the hospital setting its 15,500 which he prefer.
October 16, 2017
You will do great. I am 10 days out. I wish you luck. I may see you the morning after your surgery as I will be there for my procedure as well.
October 17, 2017
Hi lbiddle, it's getting really close isn't it? Since I have the 6:15 timeslot on the 26th it sounds like I will be back on the morning of the 27th for bandage and drain removal. I hope I see you! Where are you staying? Best of luck to you; Dr. Harley does such great work that I'm sure you will be happy.
October 16, 2017
Hey there Calgirl You have a beautiful face/mouth/lips!! This procedure is perfect for you! You kind of remind me of Lynn. And her results were fantastic!!
October 17, 2017
Hi z4results! Thank you so much. I really dislike the sagging neck. I'm so hoping that I get the same results as so many of the other ladies on here. I'm really excited and getting a bit stressed too but I think that's normal. :)
October 17, 2017
Good luck and i can't wait to see the new you! Keep us posted.
October 17, 2017
Thank you Kidney08. I can't wait either. I will be so happy to have the surgery over with. I will post pictures and my experience afterwards. Thanks for the good wishes.

One more week

Calgirl2017
This time next week the surgery will be done. I'll be leaving for Asheville on Tuesday. I thought about posting more pictures of my neck but they are too depressing. This time next week I will be able to post pictures of my new and hopefully sag-free neck.
Friends and coworkers think I am going on a vacation. The 10 days that I will be in Asheville is actually going to the first time in forever that I will have time just for myself. I'm kind of looking forward to that time! I plan to read, relax and sleep the first few days.
I will have two weeks off work. I don't have plans to share my surgery with anyone else and hope that two weeks is enough so that no one can really tell what I did. I hope to just look rested and relaxed. For those of you who have had this surgery, was two weeks off enough time before going back to work? Any last minute advice or tips?

October 22, 2017
I hope so! I will be at the Marriott Residence Inn. What about you? Best of luck, can't wait to see the results.
October 20, 2017
Hi Calgirl2017 your going to be so happy id say 2 weeks will be fine keep us posted in your journey x
October 22, 2017
I will!! Less than a week now.
October 20, 2017
2 weeks should be enough time. I’m sure there will still be some swelling, but most likely only you will notice. Ice, rest and low sodium foods! Can’t wait to see your result! :)
October 22, 2017
Thanks. It's getting very close. I practically hyperventilate when I think about it and will be glad when I am post surgery and can share the results.
October 22, 2017
BEST wishes for the two of you.
October 23, 2017
Hi Calgirl, I'm so excited for you! I want to tell you that I had just a little over two weeks off from work and I was fine. Just pace yourself your first week back. I had zero bruising. Zero. I was self conscious about the mepitac, although my hair covered the next to ear bits, it was under my chin I worried about. In fact, I think I took it upon myself to use scaraway my first day back- until I found out that we really need to use the mepitac. Well- no one ever noticed it! The swelling I had by week two was the nice/beautiful swelling, as if I'd spent thousands on fillers! But even when that swelling went away, my look wAs much more natural and much more me. My trip to Asheville was my first vacation in over a year too. And it was so nice! It was nice to have to stay in bed!! Read, Netflix, sleep!! Fun!!!!
October 24, 2017
Thanks for the information. I’m looking forward to the relaxation.

Tomorrow is the big day

Calgirl2017
I had my consultation with Dr. Harley today.
I spent the first part of the day at the bank after the fraud department called late last night and told me that my bank accounts had been compromised. This is not the easiest thing to fix when you are traveling out of state! I couldn't use checks or my ATM. Eventually I got my accounts back online and received temporary ATM cards and asked for a cashier's check to pay Dr. Harley.
With that behind me I went to my appoint with Dr. Harley. Everyone was so nice and confident and capable that I felt a lot of the stress leave me. Dr. Harley answered all the questions I had and made me feel comfortable. I left with my prescriptions and went shopping for groceries.
I bought applesauce, smoothie items, made some whole wheat pasta and some soup for the first couple of days.
I'll post 'after' pictures and about my experience on Friday, after the bandages are removed.
Wish me luck and an easy surgery. Thanks to all of you who have shared your experiences and advice with me.

Wishing you well calgirl and will be thinking of you tomorrow!
October 25, 2017
Thank you.
October 25, 2017
I just read your update. Good luck with the peel. I bet you will love your new skin. I'm so sorry to hear about the airbnb. Do you get to go home tomorrow after your stitches are out? I'm curious if it is difficult to drive? I feel like it may be difficult to turn my neck in the first week or so. I will be driving back to Charlotte to fly home 8 days after the surgery. Take care as you go back home. I'm excited to see your pictures after the peel heals.
October 25, 2017
Thank you - I am happy I am finally peeling and as I said in update, it does seem appropriate that my zombieness coincides w/ Halloween festivities! I will be driving 4 hours home tomorrow and it's a fairly easy drive - mostly on a major highway. I will definitely be driving in the slow lane though. Though I purposely stayed cooped up in my room because of my skin, I don't think I would have felt safe driving for at least 4 days - we're all different but I really was knocked out from the cocktail of drugs, surgery and even rather small amounts of pain medication. They will not want you moving your head a lot the first week and will instruct you not to. At first, it's easy as things are so new. But for me, after a few days, I find myself not taking as much care with my neck as it feels much more natural at this point - I have to really remind myself to treat the neck more gently as I know all of my internal stitches and whatnot are new and healing. I think the drive to Charlotte will be fine after 8 days and the flight as well. Though all of us heal differently and at different rates, my biggest advice is to really honor the healing process and under-do rather than over-do after the procedure. Asheville is lovely and tempting to explore but honor your body and that it does need time and space to heal.
October 26, 2017
Asheville is very pretty and I’d love to explore it but I’m planning on just relaxing, reading and sleeping for most of the time. I’ve been working long hours all year and feel like I need this time to destress and heal. I plan on being very careful with my neck. I’m at the Marriott the whole time and it’s comfortable with a kitchen area. Drive safely tomorrow and have fun on Halloween rocking the zombie look.
October 26, 2017
Sounds like a perfect plan! Answering one of your original questions in your review: if you're doing just the BL, I think you'll definitely be ready to go back to work after 2 weeks. Though I do have quite a bit of swelling from the BL, I do see it getting slightly better daily and it's only one week out. My incisions w/ the lift even w/ the sutures still in really don't stick out a lot - I know I'll be able to mask them easily w/ makeup when the time comes.
October 25, 2017
Good luck I will be there as well...
October 25, 2017
Good luck to you too! What time are you scheduled?
October 30, 2017
I was scheduled at 8:30 right after your procedure.

How are you feeling today?
October 30, 2017
I'm doing well. Some swelling and light bruising. I will post an update with pictures tonight. How are you doing?
October 31, 2017
I am doing great. You are looking great as well. We headed home (4 hour drive) after my bandage and drain tube was removed on Friday morning. I have had no bruising or hardly an noticeable swelling so I have been very fortunate. I have eaten plenty of blueberries and pineapple so I can say that has truly helped. I will head back to Asheville on Thursday for my noon appointment. I am so blessed to have done as well as I have. A BIG THANKS to DR. HARLEY and his Team. Keep us posted on your healing process.
October 25, 2017
I’m so excited for you! Cannot wait to see your pics!! I’ll b praying for your best results, and I know you’ll be in good hands and cry happy!!
