I have been reading RealSelf reviews for almost 2 years and have read about such positive experiences with Dr. Harley that I am now scheduled for October 26. My husband was originally going to come with me but is now unable to. I contacted Molina and she is available for my first 24 hours. She will take me for the surgery and stay with me until I go back the next day for the drain and bandage removal. I am excited, nervous, anxious, but can't wait to do this. I will be staying at the Marriott Residence Inn until the stitches come out. I'm definitely looking for encouragement!

One more week

This time next week the surgery will be done. I'll be leaving for Asheville on Tuesday. I thought about posting more pictures of my neck but they are too depressing. This time next week I will be able to post pictures of my new and hopefully sag-free neck.
Friends and coworkers think I am going on a vacation. The 10 days that I will be in Asheville is actually going to the first time in forever that I will have time just for myself. I'm kind of looking forward to that time! I plan to read, relax and sleep the first few days.
I will have two weeks off work. I don't have plans to share my surgery with anyone else and hope that two weeks is enough so that no one can really tell what I did. I hope to just look rested and relaxed. For those of you who have had this surgery, was two weeks off enough time before going back to work? Any last minute advice or tips?

Hi Calgirl2017 your going to be so happy id say 2 weeks will be fine keep us posted in your journey x

2 weeks should be enough time. I’m sure there will still be some swelling, but most likely only you will notice. Ice, rest and low sodium foods! Can’t wait to see your result! :)

Thanks. It's getting very close. I practically hyperventilate when I think about it and will be glad when I am post surgery and can share the results.

Hi Calgirl,
I'm so excited for you! I want to tell you that I had just a little over two weeks off from work and I was fine. Just pace yourself your first week back. I had zero bruising. Zero. I was self conscious about the mepitac, although my hair covered the next to ear bits, it was under my chin I worried about. In fact, I think I took it upon myself to use scaraway my first day back- until I found out that we really need to use the mepitac. Well- no one ever noticed it! The swelling I had by week two was the nice/beautiful swelling, as if I'd spent thousands on fillers! But even when that swelling went away, my look wAs much more natural and much more me. My trip to Asheville was my first vacation in over a year too. And it was so nice! It was nice to have to stay in bed!! Read, Netflix, sleep!! Fun!!!!

I had my consultation with Dr. Harley today.
I spent the first part of the day at the bank after the fraud department called late last night and told me that my bank accounts had been compromised. This is not the easiest thing to fix when you are traveling out of state! I couldn't use checks or my ATM. Eventually I got my accounts back online and received temporary ATM cards and asked for a cashier's check to pay Dr. Harley.
With that behind me I went to my appoint with Dr. Harley. Everyone was so nice and confident and capable that I felt a lot of the stress leave me. Dr. Harley answered all the questions I had and made me feel comfortable. I left with my prescriptions and went shopping for groceries.
I bought applesauce, smoothie items, made some whole wheat pasta and some soup for the first couple of days.
I'll post 'after' pictures and about my experience on Friday, after the bandages are removed.
Wish me luck and an easy surgery. Thanks to all of you who have shared your experiences and advice with me.

Wishing you well calgirl and will be thinking of you tomorrow!

I just read your update. Good luck with the peel. I bet you will love your new skin. I'm so sorry to hear about the airbnb. Do you get to go home tomorrow after your stitches are out? I'm curious if it is difficult to drive? I feel like it may be difficult to turn my neck in the first week or so. I will be driving back to Charlotte to fly home 8 days after the surgery. Take care as you go back home. I'm excited to see your pictures after the peel heals.

Thank you - I am happy I am finally peeling and as I said in update, it does seem appropriate that my zombieness coincides w/ Halloween festivities! I will be driving 4 hours home tomorrow and it's a fairly easy drive - mostly on a major highway. I will definitely be driving in the slow lane though. Though I purposely stayed cooped up in my room because of my skin, I don't think I would have felt safe driving for at least 4 days - we're all different but I really was knocked out from the cocktail of drugs, surgery and even rather small amounts of pain medication. They will not want you moving your head a lot the first week and will instruct you not to. At first, it's easy as things are so new. But for me, after a few days, I find myself not taking as much care with my neck as it feels much more natural at this point - I have to really remind myself to treat the neck more gently as I know all of my internal stitches and whatnot are new and healing. I think the drive to Charlotte will be fine after 8 days and the flight as well. Though all of us heal differently and at different rates, my biggest advice is to really honor the healing process and under-do rather than over-do after the procedure. Asheville is lovely and tempting to explore but honor your body and that it does need time and space to heal.

Asheville is very pretty and I’d love to explore it but I’m planning on just relaxing, reading and sleeping for most of the time. I’ve been working long hours all year and feel like I need this time to destress and heal. I plan on being very careful with my neck. I’m at the Marriott the whole time and it’s comfortable with a kitchen area. Drive safely tomorrow and have fun on Halloween rocking the zombie look.

Sounds like a perfect plan! Answering one of your original questions in your review: if you're doing just the BL, I think you'll definitely be ready to go back to work after 2 weeks. Though I do have quite a bit of swelling from the BL, I do see it getting slightly better daily and it's only one week out. My incisions w/ the lift even w/ the sutures still in really don't stick out a lot - I know I'll be able to mask them easily w/ makeup when the time comes.

Good luck I will be there as well...

I was scheduled at 8:30 right after your procedure.

I'm doing well. Some swelling and light bruising. I will post an update with pictures tonight. How are you doing?
October 31, 2017
I am doing great. You are looking great as well. We headed home (4 hour drive) after my bandage and drain tube was removed on Friday morning. I have had no bruising or hardly an noticeable swelling so I have been very fortunate. I have eaten plenty of blueberries and pineapple so I can say that has truly helped. I will head back to Asheville on Thursday for my noon appointment. I am so blessed to have done as well as I have. A BIG THANKS to DR. HARLEY and his Team. Keep us posted on your healing process.

I'm from No.Cal. I'm flying across the country for this surgery but am totally convinced that Dr. Harley is the best for the neck and lower face. There are so many great reviews and pictures. I hope I get to meet some of the women having the same surgery the week I am there.
It's all going to turn out great!! We will all be looking forward to your pics and how you are doing!! You'll be fabulous for the holidays!!
