I am 47 years old and I have always had a problem with my neck and double chin. I always envied other people's jawlines, including my sister's. Although I am not overweight, I felt like my double chin made me look heavy, especially in pictures, to the point where I did everything I could to avoid the camera. There are very few pictures of me from the last 20 years. After I turned 40, the skin on my neck became crepey, and accentuated my poor jawline even more. I got to the point that every time I looked in the mirror, all I could see was my neck. I heard about Dr. Harley through friends in Asheville. When I learned that he performed neck lifts without general anesthesia, I was intrigued. I was aware of the risks of general anesthesia and did not want to take on those risks for an elective procedure. I scheduled a consultation with Dr. Harley. He was very easy to talk too and seemed enthusiastic about the results I could achieve. Even my skeptical family felt that I was in good hands with Dr. Harley and supported my having the procedure. There was very little I had to do to prepare for the surgery. The day of the procedure, I went in early Friday morning and was home before lunch. I was able to get around that day, but mainly slept during the afternoon. The next morning, I returned to have the bandages and dressing removed. I did not have much pain and could already see great results. The next two days, I took it easy and rested a lot. I only took 2 or 3 pain pills total, and was able to get around the house and eat regularly. I am a lawyer, and I worked from home on my computer. After day 5, I was able to go out to the store with no problem. At day 10, I had my stitches out and was already thrilled with the results. Less than a month after the procedure, I attended my 30th high school reunion. Everyone said I looked great! One friend told me he thought I looked younger than anyone there (by 10 years!) I am so glad I had the procedure!! I wish I had done it sooner. I would recommend Dr. Harley to anyone. He and his staff are great. The results we achieved were beyond my highest hopes!!

great results would love to see a straight on shot. Thanks for sharing.

Oh and did you do lower face and neck? Anything with the eyes - they don't look like they needed anything. Is the price with or without eyes? Thanks

I don't mean to be offense, but this type of post strikes me as not very believable. There are only 2 pics and they both look like they were taken by the doctor. Don't you have any other pics??

If you don't find it believable, check out my review. Or grace60, or any of several other ladies who have posted extensive reviews and pictures of this procedure. Some people prefer to do a one time post, using the Dr's Before and Afters simply because they were so pleased with their results. Calling shade on these types of reviews will only hurt RS in having women not post honest reviews at all, so let's not do that, shall we?

PS: if you didn't mean to be offensive, then what exactly did you mean by telling her her review wasn't "very believable"?

I am more suspicious of those who post copious comments and NEVER post a picture. That is suspect.

I agree! I've seen people be nasty all over this site, but don't have so much as a profile picture, let alone a review of anything. It's a shame a few miseries have to mess up an otherwise supportive and positive site.

Also suspicious- people who drop bombs like the one above, and then never bother to come back and respond when called out on their crap.

First of all, I'm entitled to my own opinion. She's a very beautiful woman, but those are before and after pics shot by doc at his office. When I'm trying to make a decision about which doctor to do my plastic surgery, I'm being very cautious. I need to see multiple before and afters to have faith. And I've posted multiple times on this site. The fact that you jumped on me says more about you than me.

Hayrn: no one is disputing your right to your own opinion. Now let's take a quick look at the rights of slsmith. Have YOU personally posted pictures of yourself on this website? In my opinion, it takes a great deal of courage to share a picture of oneself on a public forum. Especially with such a personal and private situation. Many people do not want friends, co-workers, or certain family members to even know they have had a plastic surgery procedure. I sincerely appreciate someone who posts an account of their experience. I not only appreciate the posting of a picture, I am grateful to that brave person. That person posting is doing something selfless in order to help people like you and me who is trying to make a very important decision. The courage of others such as cemlaw, Lilygirl, Carribean Lady, Simmer 2, slsmith (as others) enabled me to settle on Dr. Harley to do my neck lift. For someone to suggest that the person who has posted their account of their experience along with "only" two photos borders on insulting.

When I get my surgery I do plan to post photos. To me, the point of this site is to post photos to share both positive and negative results. If someone doesn't want to post pics, that's fine. If someone only posts doctor office before and after pics, that's fine too. However, when doing my research, I discount them.

I don't see that logic either. The Dr photos are the ones I am looking for since we tend to take photos of ourselves from the "best" angles and with out heads turned just so. But the Dr pics are addressing the areas the surgery focused on- the jaw line and gobble neck. And I'm still calling out anyone who starts any statement with, "I don't mean to be be offensive, but..." because, yes, yes you do mean that.

Hayrn: It is totally understandable if you choose to discount someone's review based on lack of photos. It is not, however, understood nor appreciated for you to post rude comments directly toward a person who has been kind and generous enough to try to help others. Next time the photos are not to your liking, you might try to silently file that post is your mental trash can. Please try not to be offensive to someone who takes the time to help all of us trying to make an informed decision.

Hi Kelly! I have surgery scheduled with Dr. Harley on May 29. So far I am scheduled for The Biltmore Lift and the Upper Bleph. Today after speaking with Juanita, I scheduled a chemical peel as well. You mentioned that you have a list of people willing to speak with upcoming surgical patients. Have any of these volunteers had a chemical peel with Dr. Harley? I have questions. I would call and ask Juanita, but bless her heart I have called her almost daily. Maybe speaking with someone who has experienced the chemical peel would be just the ticket. Thanks in advance for the answer.

Actually why would you NOT want them taken by the doctor? The idea for pics is (1) same lighting (2) same camera and (3) real results evident, which means you have to pose in the same light with the same expression. This is soo hard to do for me at least, I prefer to see professionals take the picture attempting to ensure everything is the same. True this doctor has a TON of good reviews on here, but I tend to be quite suspicious after all the time online seeing b.s. reviews, and I am thinking these are the real deal, no joke. If not I would say something about it, although of course you are entitled to yr opinion. But so far, this is looking like the real enough deal that I am even considering making the three hour trip down to NC to look into it for me. If you find out otherwise, let me know....anyone. Or I will let you know if I go all the way there only to be disappointed.

I didn't know a chemical peel was an option or would have definitely had one, dang it!

Hi Simmer: I didn't know about the chemical peel either. I came upon the information quite by accident. I'll give you a brief explanation: during my consult with Dr. Harley, I mentioned that I would like fillers for the hollowness under my eyes. Dr. Harley explained that he did not believe that I would be satisfied with the results because my dark circles and hollow eyes are hereditary. I scheduled the Biltmore Lift that day. The next day I called Juanita and asked if she would ask Dr. Harley if he thought I would be a good candidate for an Upper and Lower Bleph. He looked at my photo and determined I was a candidate for the Upper Bleph. He said I would not be a good candidate for the Lower Bleph for the same reasons the fillers would not work. He referred me to a local Dermatological Medical Spa in Asheville. The Aesthetician recommended a chemical peel. I once again called Juanita and she scheduled a chemical peel the day of the procedure for my Biltmore Lift and Upper Bleph.

Will do:)

oh i misunderstood I thought you had only had the lower face lift. I will have to go back and look at pics. I don't know that I would want an eye lift at this point. Ideally I would want to do as little cutting as possible.

You look beautiful. 8 Weeks after my facelift, I'm going to my 50 year hs reunion tomorrow & hope my results are as well received as yours!
May 2, 2015
geez I do not ever want to go to my reunions -- maybe not even college ones. First, in high school I was an outcast, why would I want to see those jerks again? Secondly....actually that's the only reason. But good for you -- I wish I wanted to see those mean people! (Well I mean I wish I wanted to see them, but have them not be mean anymore.) BUT I do want the neck lift!
May 4, 2015
Thank you! Hope your reunion was fun!

Although we girls (boarding school) do this every year, this was the best one yet.lots of compliments on how young I look with my long hair, lol! No one noticed any scars - that yellow cover up is a miracle. Actually, it was seeing myself in last year's pictures that inspired me to go for the surgery. Thought I would tell if anyone asked, but nobody did! I was confident enough to put on a swimsuit & hang out on the beach, fat thighs & all.
May 5, 2015
Ah cmon Pottery Granny (love the name and wish I knew how to do pottery) fat thighs are in vogue now, after long last. Sort of thanks to J,Lo and the big butt fad... I wonder if lipo statistics for thighs are way down, they must be. Enjoy it is what I say. Who knows how long it will last for us females? I am still waiting for the saggier older look to come into style, any speculation on this one? I still think I would want a neck lift, but I am trying to envision who and what and how that might occur.

I say go for it! The only ones in my age group at the reunion who weren't chunky were the ones who'd had cancer - even some of those weren't slim!
