It will be my turn in Dr. Harley's chair in one week. Eeek!! I can't believe I am doing this! What a roller coaster of emotions!!! Today, I am focused on preparing for the trip as I will be traveling a short distance and staying two nights in Asheville before returning home following my appointment the day after surgery. I'm reaching out with questions to all of you lovely ladies who have experienced a FaceLift, Upper Bleph or Lateral Brow Lift. First, I want to say a million thank yous to all of you who have posted your experiences on RealSelf. I would not have the courage to go forward with this without you!
I am very worried about sleeping on my back. My first couple of test runs trying to sleep on my back this week with a bunch of pillows under my head have resulted in disaster--no sleep and a bunch of tossing around trying to get comfortable! I also have a neck pillow for traveling that gives me a lovely headache. All of this BEFORE I've had anything done! HELP! I would love to hear your suggestions about what worked for you and made you most comfortable. I have seen one suggestion of using a U-shaped pregnancy pillow from Amazon. Anyone tried that? Any suggestions on a comfortable neck pillow? What works? Thanks in advance!!

I have hard time also sleeping in back. I just propped up pillows behind and a couple of large pillows at sides to keep me from rolling over. It worked fine or me.

I have found that putting my hands flat, palms against the bed, under my legs forces me to stay on my back. Weirdly, it's not that uncomfortable . . . or maybe it's just me? LOL. All the best to you!

Last Minute Decision

I just made a last-minute decision to hire Susie Tarantino at T.L.C. to care for me the first 24 hours after my surgery next week! I am traveling about 2 hours to Asheville and my husband will be with me. The original plan was hubby would take care of me, but I started having second thoughts about the first 24 hours! He was willing to do it (although not thrilled), but I started thinking that having someone experienced with post op patients might be best. After talking to Susie on the phone today, I am very comfortable that I am making the right decision! She knows a lot about how to make you comfortable--how to set up the pillows, what to eat and not eat, how to ice, what to use for applying ice, etc. I will be heading home immediately after the post op appointment on Day 2, so I'm thinking I will learn a lot from her about how to be comfortable at home. She said she'd train hubby on how to help, too! I'll post an update on how this goes (although I may not remember any of it!!).

Good luck! Hopefully an easy recovery for u! For icing i read someone recommended freezing some wet face towel like putting them on a zip lock bags and use them when needed. For sleeping position maybe u can set more pillows on ur back and use 1 of those U pillows but instead of putting it in your neck try like under ur shoulder like how you use floaties on the pool it will prevent you from tossing and turning. I will follow your journey. Dont forget to post some pics :) tc!
