All my life I was gifted with my mother's neck. ...
All my life I was gifted with my mother's neck. They call it the Hunsberger neck (her maiden name). Its a neck that robs you of a chin. All my brothers and sisters got Daddy's wonderful chin and profile. Not me. So after 54 years of wishing, I finally gave myself the best gift ever. I traded momma's turkey neck for daddy's chin. I almost cried when my big sister looked at me with a smile and said you have daddy's chin! Well to be honest, I did cry. My big brother came over and told me I was so pretty. Wow.
So let's talk about the experience. I'm only 9 days out. Dr. Harley knows his stuff. He focuses on what he knows and does it well. #1 he does it without general anesthesia. The most dangerous thing about any surgery is going under. I was thrilled to not have to do that. In the chair was much like a dental appointment. Locals applied. Painless for me. Maybe a little pinch or two. His assistant Kelly was a real treat. She soothes you while he works. She does it naturally. I dont think she even realizes she is doing it. She will gently rub your arm in such a sweet reassuring way. Dr. Harley stays focused and works, but if you are awake he will acknowledge you and ask if you are comfortable. They want the experience to be great.
So all done and bundled up ready to go back to our RV (i brought it down becuase it has a great recliner in it!) They got me all ready to go and cared for. They made sure my husband and I had everything we needed. Back to the RV, very little pain, I simply slept off the valium. I had no trouble sleeping with the medications provided. Next morning we came back in for check in and to remove the head/neck compression, it was again warm and cozy experience. My husband came in for the "reveal". the results were immediate and ohhh soooo wonderful. Very little bruising. No pain. He ROCKED IT!!!!
Week one - I iced my face to assist with swelling, used the bromelain (pineapple) and arnica as suggested - DO IT - it works!. Very very little bruising. No pain.
Just took out the stitches today. I had them removed back here at home by my General practitioner. She was AWE inspired by the quality of the work and how well I am healing. I called down yesterday to make sure I understood the details for the suture removal. Right on the phone they were with me and explained it again. And my general practitioner knew she could call them while I was in her office and they would answer right then as she removed the stitches if she needed to (she didnt).
I'm so happy. I cant explain it. All my life I was told I was pretty. But I never ever felt it. Its just a personal thing I guess. I saw how pretty my sisters and brothers were, but all i saw was a neck that went straight from chin to chest. I walked past the mirror on day 4, stopped and nearly stunned I could hear my inner voice say Oh my I'm pretty. It wasnt about age. It wasnt about vanity. It was about something deeper. And Dr. Harley and his team met me in a place of safety and security and in a genuinely loving way and gave me something more than I ever ever hoped for..... my daddy's chin!
I will post pictures in a couple weeks - want to do day before, day two and then day 14. I say go for it. He is worth the drive and worth the wait.

This is one of the sweetest Dr. Harley reviews I’ve read. And I’ve read them all. (And no, I don’t have a life)

Thank you for your review...it's kind of you to share and reassuring for those of us considering the surgery...you look lovely...and it's wonderful that you gave this gift to yourself.
Thanks for this - you look lovely! I'm wondering, how do you feel about the scars in the front of your ears? That is my only worry about Dr. Harley's surgery--something I'm very seriously considering myself. Thanks!
It's been 3 weeks since surgery and honestly I can't see them. Had my annual
Physical
With my doctor today. She even commented my scars on my ears look fantastic. She even liked what I did so much she asked me for Dr Harley's name and is going to contact him for herself!!!
