yay!

Great news !! My eyes having finally stopped tearing up all day. I knew I wanted to wait until the 3 mos. mark to contact Dr. Harley because I was hopeful it would resolve and for the most part, it did. My eyes are still very dry so I use drops but at least I can wear make up again . Dr.Harley emailed me a few times to check on me. He's wonderful. Thank you for all the well wishes. And I just realized today that there is an inbox on real self . I'm sorry I missed those messages and didn't respond .

Yay!!! That is just fantastic news. I don't know why but your distress really touched my heart. I've been checking back to get updates on your progress. Thanks for letting us know that your eyes are feeling better. All the best to you!
You people are more compassionate than my "Real" friends! LOL . And I really appreciate it. Yes, I was freaking out but I decided not to lose it completely until the 3 month mark. It's funny how the optimism in a person gives them something to hang onto. My eyes are still really dry and don't close completely at night. It's a weird feeling. You are sleeping but wake up and you can already see. It's hard to explain. They are open a slit like when you are peeking and you don't want someone to know you are awake . Anyway , my main goal was to be able to wear mascara again and I can. Dr. Harley reached out to me before I did to him. I appreciated that.
I am so glad to hear this. I was very worried about you and Diane, too. It gives us who had our eyes done with Dr.H a lot of hope. I read a lot of bleph reviews and it doesn't seem normal to have these struggles, but maybe we are an anomaly. Either way, I am just glad you have some relief and things have cleared! This is awesome news. Do you still regret not doing your eyes closer to home?
No I don't. As a nurse I feel there is always that small percentage of patients that do not heal like the rest. I feel like Dr. Harley is the best so I'd have the same outcome . The only difference would be, at least he cares . LOL . Thank you so much for your kind words and support. How are you doing?
I am just patiently waiting for my lip function to return. The eye issues are there and I wait for them to improve. I am just glad the dryness has gone. I will be really happy when they aren't open when I sleep and Dr. H fixes the brow drop. Like you said, "at least he cares." I could not have said it better. Him standing by his work makes it so much easier to focus on healing without worrying there is not other resolution should it NOT heal. That is like money in the bank to have the peace knowing he will fix issues. You are right, not all patients heal the same and not all patients have the same cuts, amount of tissue or hurdles in scarring. I will say that I think having an eye exam before Blephs would be a good standard of procedure, in the minimum if one is going to travel on blephs. Also, thorough and more complete discussion of possible issues like brow drops, etc. I did a Q&A on here and doctors seemed to think the brow drop discussion is one you have before a bleph on standard. I didn't have that, nor did I expect it to happen. You sign that paper of all the risks the morning you do the surgery, and in my case, I had already taken a nice amount of valium. I could not tell you what all was on that sheet! Dr. H says all of this is temporary and I trust him in that opinion. So, I wait and just focus on the results that I love. Not having jowls and a falling chin makes it a lot easier!! lol I do not miss that!! It seems there are a good many people on here who have had initial blep issues and some have resolved well and a few not so well, even 6 months out. I feel very bad for those ladies who go through that, as most blephs I read are a breeze with none of these issues at all. That is the one thing that made me wish I would have stayed close to home on the bleph. Your eyes are a real booger bear when they decide to have an issue and having him close would have been a lot easier for the complications that have happened. Keep positive! I have had women say "Well, seems to me, Dr. Harley's patients are just pleased they aren't maimed" and really rude stuff like that. I really respect him and have had to tell a few people to not bother me in my inbox because of the negativity. I really appreciate having other patients, like you, to talk with and stay positive with. We don't all heal perfectly and the support is a lifesaver. Hugs and thank you so much.
Hi!! I too am so happy to hear you are getting better. As Lisa said, I too felt very worried for you! I think you did a good job describing how awful you felt, thus we were so concerned. I have a September 12 date with Dr. Harley and I need upper and lower bleph as my eyes are so droopy and I have huge deep bags. So, I'm just really happy to hear things are resolving for you!! YAY!!
So glad to hear your better. I'm thinking of king my eyes too in Dec and reading some of these had me terrified !
Thank goodness

The Biltmore lift was wonderful but I wish I had...

The Biltmore lift was wonderful but I wish I had never touched my eyes . It's been a nightmare . I thought I had bilateral pink eye about 10 days after the surgery. I went to two different doctors weekly and finally an ophthalmologist . I was diagnosed with dry eye from the surgery. I called Dr. Harley. He said it should resolve itself. However, my eyes tear up all day, everyday. It's a nightmare . I have restasis. Night time lubricant. Nothing is helping. You never think about your eyeballs until they are all you think about every minute of the day . I have the sinking feeling this will never resolve . It's horrible . I massage my lids etc. The tears flow all day. Everyone asks me if I'm crying . I can not wear make up. The new make up that I spent a fortune on because 2 doctors told me I had pink eye and to throw away my existing makeup. My eyes are constantly red and swollen. I wish I'd left them alone . It looks like I'm on drugs with red, puffy eyes all day. It's very embarrassing.

Hi Gail, I would suggest reading Fortycankissit's review. She had similar issues and they are improving now. It's not uncommon to experience these things after bleph surgery. If you search in the search bar above for your particular issues, you will find a lot of posts dealing with them, which should provide some helpful information.
I would highly suggest having someone check to see if your eyes are wide open during sleep. This is what is happening with me. That coupled with them not closing all the way during the day, during blinking, was making it so much worse and I suffered like this. I got a sleep mask that keeps your eyes hydrated at night and it helped a great deal. If I didn't use that, I would likely still be suffering because my eyes do not close during sleep. I still have some dryness, but nothing like it was. I am so sorry you are also going through eye complications. Mine now are mostly with a gap that is happening on the side of the lid and the not closing. I feel you, sister. Dr. Harley has reached out and promised me he would always stand by his work and not abandon me, so I do believe he will make this right. I am praying for you!
So sorry to read of your troubles! I had my upper lids done in February and while not perfect, have not had any major issues. Have you thought about seeing an oculoplastic surgeon?
I had a consult with an Opthamology plastic surgeon She tested my eyes & I qualified for eyelid correction thru Medicare . I was all set. I brought up my dry eye problem, & she said no way would she operate on me because it would make my eyes drier! Elaine
Thanks for taking the time to post. I have not read the post of the similar issues. I have not contacted a surgeon just yet. I have just been hoping everyday that I'll wake up and it will be better.
There are very effective things you can be doing to improve the situation, so I would read other posts as soon as you can, especially concerning eye massage. Fortycankissit even has a video demonstrating the massage technique she used. I hope it helps!
Also check out Geezerhottie - she experienced eye issues after a bleph with Dr. Harley and they totally resolved themselves too. I hope your issues resolve completely too and am so sorry to hear about the suffering you are experiencing. :/
I think these symptoms are common and (thankfully!) only temporary after bleph. There is a review from dontgetold who had dry eyes for three months, which then completely resolved! Read her story for some encouragement, and hang in there! We are all rooting for you.
Sorry you are having problems. Did you post before and after pictures? Are you happy with the way your eyes look now?
