51 years old, hormonal changes gave me a turkey neck and jowls. Chose Dr Harley to turn the clock back.

I had the procedure 3 weeks ago today. Things are progressing nicely but the neck swelling goes up and down, some days there are tiny pockets of swelling and other days not so much. I’ve started doing self lymphatic drainage massage on the face and neck and that seems to be speeding things up as far as swelling. My scars are almost invisible now. I went back to work yesterday and people said stuff like, you look like you got some sun, your hair looks good, your new glasses look great on you. Love it! The few people I’ve told about this are amazed and said I look great and not like I’ve had anything done and one of those is a man. That is exactly what I wanted. Here are a few before and afters.

You look great, beautiful neck and jaw line! Your incisions are healing fabulously, too...can't even see them. :) You probably know this but it is not uncommon to have swelling on and off for several weeks, all a part of healing and to a certain extent diet (salt intake). I am very happy for you. Thank you for the update!

Thank you, I’m finding that out about the swelling. Some days worse than others, now I’m going through a lumpy bumpy stage. Hoping that is all normal.

We all are different but I also had lumps and bumps, especially cheek, sides of face and under the chin...ha, pretty much covers all areas worked on! :) The other thing that I remember is firmness and numbness/altered sense perception in the areas by my frontal ear incisions at the sides of my face/lateral cheeks (if that makes sense, hard to describe). It was several weeks before that resolved. I am not sure but I think that occurs because of the suture anchoring of tissue and skin that is done in those areas. It sounds like you are healing well. Hope you keep updating!

Can you take a photo of the incision line (scar by now) behind the ear? Did he take it out/down further to address you neck? You have a beautiful tight result!

Sorry but I renewed my pictures.

mj43
I had somebody locally screenshot pictures of me from this website and send to someone that I knew, asking if I had a facelift. so I just deleted all of my pictures so I wouldn’t have to answer everyone whether or not I’d had work done. . Everything. Is progressing beautifully and naturally.

sorry to hear this
what a shame

That is not cool and something I was concerned about when I had full face pictures up on my review, which I later removed. I have just lower face ones ones up currently, but still a little worried because I only told a couple of friend and no family, except for my husband.

Not cool, but they must be thinking of having the same thing done to be on the website. Glad things are progressing well

Yay, had my stitches out today!

mj43
Saw Dr Harley and Kelly this morning to have my stitches out. I’ve been feeling like my normal self since I got home about 400pm (very active) I rarely sit down, always on the go, so I have to keep reminding myself to take it easy. I still have some bruising on my neck so he has advised me to use warm compresses going forward. He and Kelly answered all of my questions today, Why did I not have a drain? Because I had lipo on neck, he doesn’t usually do that if he does lipo, Why is my swelling not going down very fast? Because I am impatient and just had skin, tissues and muscles moved around and that will get better over the weeks to come ( he did not tell me I’m impatient, I’m just aware that I have that annoying trait). Why did I have a single stitch under each ear? Because he made tiny incisions on each side for the liposuction cannula.. Kelly said since I’m a week out I cold try some Advil as it may help swelling. Do not use Advil until they tell you it is okay, it can cause more bleeding. I don’t think incisions look bad for just 1 week post up. I have had stitches on various parts of my body and they are not detectable at all. Even the 2 fingers I nearly sliced clean off, no scars. I can’t say enough about Dr Harley and his team, he is genuinely one of the nicest Doctors I have ever met and I’ve been a pharmaceutical rep for over 15 years, I know a lot of Doctors! I will visit them in a few months for the after pictures and I will be back for my eyes when that day comes in 5 or 10 years but right now I am very happy! My son has been against this for a while and when I walked in today he said, “ wow Mom, you look like yourself but the younger version”. Best money I ever spent!

I'm doing my eyes later as well. You're coming along nicely. Keep us posted!

Thank you, I definitely will, good luck with your procedure!
May 30, 2018
wow you can see they are oing to heal great. I loove your youthful jaw line and cheeks, I was going to ask do you feel you look like yourself but younger or different somehow, well your son is spot on! and answered my question ! I'm terrified of having this one and looking different but seeing your pics gives me heaps and heaps of confidence.

When you get the bandage off you look swollen, so maybe a little different the 1st week. My swelling is so much less today but Dr Harley cold see that I was impatient about the swelling and prescribed me a steroid pack. I took first dose yesterday and my swelling is significantly less, almost none now. Today I feel like I look just like myself except no jowls or turkey neck. I am seeing a doctor friend of mine today that knew I was having this done and I know he will be amazed that I look so natural not that pulled back look that so many get with a bad facelift. Looking different or unnatural was my biggest fear too but that was why I chose Dr Harley. A friend of mine that does Botox and facials knew I was looking to get this done and told me not to do it locally and to check out Dr Harley, he had fixed a bad facelift that one of her clients had done and was so happy. I am confident that anyone I haven’t told will have no idea that I had anything done!

The bad facelift was done locally in Chattanooga, not Dr Harley. We have a LOT of bad facelifts in this town, thankfully I am not one of those. it was worth the wait and travel to see Dr Harley. After reading some of his reviews I saw people had flown from Europe and Beverly Hills to have Dr Harley do their faces, I don’t know if their is another facial plastic surgeon on RealSelf with over 200 positive reviews just on facelifts.
May 30, 2018
he is the doctor on here with the most reviews!! I'm just waiting until July (I'm on vacation to Florida) and am going to have one more consult with dr thomassen,,, I think I will end up going with dr Harley because of all his reviews! And the way he does his incisions in front of the ear/tragus looks sooo natural! I have no idea why most surgeons put the incisions behind the tragus it looks so facelift like, just look at Bruce jenners ears behind the tragus looks so alien like. and I watched a video on dr Harley he looks so intelligent and nice

Can you be a doll and post updates along the way? 3 months out, 6 months out, a year after surgery? Would love to see how long the lift lasts. I had one done ten years ago ( and am desperately due for another, lol) but it seemed like I only had a really nice effect for about 3-6 months. Could have been genetics; or a bad doctor. When I’m ready, it will only be with Dr Harley. You look wonderful and I hope u have many years enjoying your improved self! :-).

Sky50 Wow. Three to six months is really unreasonable.
June 4, 2018
Sky50, I had the biltmore lift about 15 months ago and like you said with your lift, it only looked good for 6 months, if that. Are you going to do a full face lift this time or just another mini lift?
June 2, 2018
to sky50, why is that unreasonable to ask??
June 2, 2018
Others have done it. I didn’t think it was a big deal.
