Started to experience thinning hair, male-pattern baldness, and receding hairline in my mid-40s. Put off doing anything about it, waited several years, as my hair loss became more and more obvious. A photo from a family wedding in which my "bald spot" was a lot more evident than I realized was the wake-up call that finally got me off the fence. Not ready for 50-and-balding -- just didn't seem like me, if I could do something about it.
Heard about ARTAS which appealed to me, as 1) it's my own hair, and 2) no strip scar. Researched providers and discovered Dr. Anderson at the Anderson Center for Hair. Discovered he was one of the pioneers of ARTAS treatments in the US, has been doing ARTAS since 2013, and Anderson Center for Hair has been voted “Best Hair Restoration Practice” in the Southeast USA for 5 years in a row. Figured if I was going to do it, might as well go with the best. Saved up some funds and finally pulled the trigger over the Christmas/New Year holidays which gave me an excuse to have 2-weeks at home.
Three weeks post-op now, and my only regret is that I didn't do this sooner. The surgical experience was a piece of cake. Dr. Anderson and his staff were excellent and the procedure was not painful at all. My recovery has been quick – within a week my donor site was no longer obvious and my new hairline established. Within two weeks, just looked like I had a tight buzzcut – no one suspected I had hair restoration. The new hairline is natural-looking – there is real artistry into Dr. Anderson’s placement of the new hair. He knew how to give me an age-appropriate, restored thicker look without trying to make me look like I’m 20-years old again.
I’m looking forward to seeing the new hair grow in, and I understand this can take some time – 12 mos or so before the full effect is visible. I plan to stay on top of the recommended 1) daily Finasteride, 2) daily use of Laser Cap, and 3) quarterly PRP treatments to ensure I get maximal results. I’ll plan to check back in a year from now and report my results, but so far I’m very pleased with the restored hairline and thickness of previously thinning areas. Also pleased that I was able to do so in a way that was natural and unnoticeable to friends and colleagues, beyond the buzz cut, which I’ve received lots of compliments on, actually.
