Bit of a background - I lost about 55 kg over the span of 2 years through diet and exercise, and honestly didn't even consider the loose skin I would be left with afterwards due to being so young. Of course, no matter the age it's close to impossible to lose that amount of weight and be left with no loose skin.
My arms prior to surgery weren't huge, the size wasn't my concern, the skin quality was. There was a bunch of wrinkly, thin, loose skin on my upper arm, whenever I moved my arms the skin would rub against me and bunch up (as seen in 2nd photo) to be quite unsightly and also be uncomfortable too. As a young girl this was really hard on my self confidence, having arms that looked so wrinkly made me feel like I had the body of an old woman. Being overweight for pretty much my whole life, I was always incredibly insecure and this made me limit myself in what I could wear, where I could go, what I could do, how I could act, etc, and I thought this self hatred would go away after the weight was gone, but it felt like a whole other battle when I realised I would need loose skin removal.
I was lucky enough that on my very first PS consult I found Dr Goh, the Valley Plastic Surgery clinic is so beautifully designed, clean, comfortable, and the whole staff is well informed and kind.
Dr Goh speaks with confidence but wasn't at all cocky, and in a way I could understand but clearly knew what he was talking about to a very high degree. He asked me what I wanted first and then told me what could realistically be done for me, and set a VERY realistic expectation. I found it nice that when I mentioned that I think I would like a thigh lift, he said this was an option but didn’t see it as absolutely necessary and mentioned I may dislike the scar more than a bit of loose skin. I feel many surgeons would push as many surgeries as possible for their own benefit but I never felt that way with Dr. Goh, I felt he was making suggestions based on my best interest.
All the nurses and staff at Valley Plastic Surgery are incredible, kind and great at what they do but I want to specifically mention Claire. She is so sweet, funny and very knowledgeable in the field and when I had an opening near my armpit from my arm lift (very common minor complication with brachioplasty, no fault of surgeon) she answered all of my emails in a timely manner, often making time to call instead which I found was lovely and she never made me feel like my questions were ridiculous or annoying. Also during the initial consult where photos were taken I was highly anxious for that but she was so kind and warm and made me feel completely comfortable with her.
I had my arm lift done in July and the whole process was amazing, Dr Goh marked my arms before the procedure but he also spoke with me and made sure I was relaxed and ready for the procedure and answered all the questions I had. I stayed overnight at the Mater Private hospital in Brisbane, the whole staff was well organised and kind.
I am so incredibly happy with my results and my expectations have been exceeded when it comes to post-op care.
I have had my circumferential lipectomy (360 body lift) and mastopexy augmentation (breast lift with implants) just shy of 2 weeks ago, I will be sure to write a review once I am fully recovered. So far I am again, incredibly happy with my results and experience.
Thank you Dr Goh for being so good at what you do and giving me what feels like a brand new life. You're a legend!

Looks great!!! When did you have your arms done? And did it take a while for you to see the final results?

Thanks so much!!! I had them done on 24th July of this year. I would say it did take a while for all of the swelling to resolve when it comes to size but for me, as my main issue was the appearance of the wrinkly skin, the tightening helped resolve that instantly, but honestly I was surprised how each week my arms (up until about 3 weeks ago) continued to get smaller and smaller :)

Yeah it really is but even 3 months later I notice them getting a slightly better shape week by week so just try and keep that in mind!

You look amazing! Did you wear a faja too?

Yes I did! I wore compression for 6 weeks by the advice of my nurses and doctor and then another 2 weeks by choice as I found the swelling quite uncomfortable :) exquisite bodies makes a good post op compression garment for following arm lift!
