Reviews you can trust, from real people like you.
How it works
  • Our highly-trained Review Moderation team evaluates all reviews before they're published to ensure they're written by people like you and not a member of a doctor's office.
  • This multi-step process takes up to 24 hours from review submission to publication.
  • Doctors can't pay to have reviews removed or hidden.
  • Reviews are only removed at the reviewer's request or if they violate our Terms of Service.

If you have questions or believe we should re-evaluate a published review, let us know.

Lack of Ethics, Customer Service, and Wanted a Non-disparagement Agreement

I originally posted a 3 star review but after him asking for me to sign a non-disparagement agreement to do an already discussed revision, not replying to my email, and his overall customer service, I've decided to leave 1 star.

TLDR;
Charismatic surgeon but says off-putting remarks at times, GREAT tummy tuck, underestimated results of arm lift and needed a revision, mixed general office management and constant reschedules due to office opening, was getting a revision during summer for them to reschedule 4 times, left a review and as a result, they wanted me to sign an agreement as collateral to do the revision that was previously promised verbally. I declined and never received a reply and simply, the ethics and morals are sadly just not there.

TIMELINE
I first met Dr. Micaleff Jan 19 2023 via Austin Plastic Surgeons.
He was charismatic and with my concerns, explained the procedure, and gave recommendations, including an arm lift. I originally asked about the mini brachioplasty but he advised against it. After a 2nd consult in his own practice, he changed his advise and said we can do a mini. Great for less scar, but strange the advice changed.

He gave me a $1K discount, and my whole procedure was just under $30K, fairly average. I booked for a winter surgery and would return for the holidays for post op care.

Almost every visit I’ve scheduled with him I’ve always seen him 30-45 minutes after (on top of a commute of 40 minutes). They were never on time in seeing me and would apologize, a major pain point.

DAY OF SURGERY
We scheduled for Dec. 15th 2023 in the early AM. The day of surgery, they post-poned it to 10 or 11 am since he squeezed in another procedure last minute before me.
I waited almost 2 hours until the procedure finally started, so start time was really around 12:30pm or 1pm.
As he was marking me up, he kept getting phone calls. In one of them, he did answer and had to step away. In the moment of marking me up and being essentially naked, it felt insensitive and lack of focus in an extensive procedure.
Thankfully, healing is smooth sailing EXCEPT my arm lift.

POST OP
The compression sleeve is digging into my arm so bad it leaves a mark. In my one week post op follow up, he said it was dirt and should come off after scrubbing.

It was NOT dirt and was a result of the sleeves being too small and marking my skin from being literally too tight. I still have this marking as of 12/2024.

Jan 3rd 2024 another follow up at 8:45am and wasn’t seen until an hour after. Dr. Micaleff and his staff kept trying to blame me saying I had the wrong appointment time, even though their system notifications said otherwise. Dr. Micaleff called me to also say I had the wrong time, to eventually apologize for scheduling me incorrectly.

Fast forward a few months, the wound is not healing. I'm out of state and he promises to do the revision during summer.
Summer comes around, and he keeps postponing it. I organized my summer to accommodate and because of the delays of his office, I wasn't able to get the revision. His justification was because of the office not opening, he has no facility to do it. Mind you, the alternative as a good will gesture could have been to do it at a facility and they cover fees (Doctors CAN do this). Again, I live out of state. After the way this was handled, the past history, and the overall ethics of his practice, I decided to get the revision locally. I told him my plans both via WhatsApp and email and that if they wanted to truly make it right, they could help with paying the revision. No reply.

Please do multiple consults. Doing a procedure is a long term relationship for at least a year, and the way he handled this was not great. Even his current office coordinator has admitted things were not handled well prior to her and there was a lot of complaints from others. We had a call after my first review to see about making it right, but a non-disparagement agreement AND for me to go back to Texas to accommodate him after scheduling a month and a half for this was not the solution.
