As you can see, like many women I have a few moles that grow around the areola. Here are a few close up photos. The left side has more moles than the right side. The right side has two although one is much more faint. The left side has about 5 or so. It just happens. That's mother nature for you. I realize the lighting is different, but I had to move around trying different places in the house to try for photos. I took several photos in different rooms and just picked the two I felt most showed the moles. That's mother nature for you, nobody's perfect. They don't bother me in the least.

I added these photos in response to a comment by someone saying how bad they thought the scar edges look. I actually don't think they look bad at all. I wanted to clarify that it is moles near the scars making the edges look rough, not the actual scars edges

Can you still feel the permanent sutures? Have they given you anymore problems?

I can't feel that they're there, unless really press and feel around for them. No issues. Still occasionally notice a faint outline if nipples are projecting when really cold, but just press lightly with palm and completely goes away. Still very glad I did it.

Hello, do you feel as though you’ve lost any sensation in your nipples at all? By the way the procedure looks like it went great!

Thank you so much. Feel complete normal sensation, no loss at all. Which was a relief as I too had originally worried about it. Very glad I did it.

Hello R.S. world! Its been a while so I thought I would post a short update and provide some updated photos. Overall I am still glad I had the surgery ... no regrets at all. Of course time keeps passing and our bodies will continue changing. Here are a couple of update photos 2 years and 2 months later after the areola reduction surgery with Dr Steely. I highly recommend him. I hope everyone has happy holidays and happy New Year! Fa la la la la, La la la la!!!!!!!!!!

I am so sorry it turned out so bad! Is there a way to fix the rough areas around the edges?

Those are actually three round separate from the scars, that developed separately over time. Not sure what they're called. Kind of like moles. They are right next to the scar, but not part of the scar. Scar edges themselves are pretty clean lines. I'll try to get some close-up pictures.

You are insane if you think these results are bad. Also, what a rude thing to say. OP looks phenomenal and those are dream results

It's been quite a while and everything healed quite nicely. In total I wore the silicone gel sheet for 2 months. The scars are still fading and I know will take 1-2 years to fully mature. Posting some new pics for comparison. I do notice from the 38-day point to now, there has been some stretching out of the areola (which I always knew can happen), but it is still a vast improvement from how I started. Overall I am glad I did it. I would have liked them smaller, but they may result in a puckered scar with a starburst effect of the scar lines... which I definitely did not want a puckered look. My doc was honest and counseled against smaller to avoid a starburst/puckered scar and I'm grateful. I have the permanent gore-tex string sutured underneath the outer edge of the areola to help minimize stretching. I can feel it but it does not bother me. It also causes an occasional puffy look to the nipple within the circle, but if I press down with my palm it goes away. I suppose it's due to coldness causing some perking in the area. All-in-all, I'm very pleased and glad I did it, especially when looking at the original photo.

I like before better. Large areolas are the best!
