I tried Laser Lipo at a branch of Light Rx in Ann Arbor Michigan to hopefully spot reduce my arms. It was a package deal of laser lipo, which was a series of ten minute sessions with a hookup to a machine that felt warming and supposedly blasted fat externally, and skin tightening sessions which were mostly deep massage. Three treatments a week over 5 weeks at a cost of $1700.00.
Despite bringing my IPod there were a lot of nosy questions and one of the techs, Pam went into detail about her religious faith. This lack of professionalism in the observance of spa etiquette was a bad sign of worse to come.
About my third treatment with Pam she told me prices would soon go up but (lucky me) I could prepay for another package at the current price if I did so by Dec 1st. I hadn't seen results yet and I began to wonder if this was an attempt to manipulate me into spending more while I was still uncertain whether the treatments would work for me. I called another location and was told there was no anticipated price increase and corporate avoided price fluctuations,
The manager, Sonja, was there only about half the time; the next time she came in I asked her about this and she confirmed no pending increase. Pam insisted that emails were sent out about price increases then suddenly redrawn.
Pam became increasingly rude. i don't know whether it was because I embarrassed someone in a lie or wouldn't be around much longer so (to her mind) it didn't matter how she treated me. She even left me in the treatment room without completing the treatment-the manager wasn't there but a second tech later came in and asked me if I was finished!
All this time they were completely unconcerned about my experience which was becoming harassing. When i told the manager, Sonja, that Pam had left me waiting in the treatment room without doing my other arm (she took off to treat someone else) without telling the other tech, she didn't dispute that this had happened but told me that Pam "had done nothing wrong" and asked me not to say "horrible" things about my experience, Which begs the question, "How can what I say be horrible if nothing wrong was done?" There is a lack of accountability here. When I first met with the manager, she showed me before and after pictures of an arm against a grid which showed a difference at measurement points. Pam just took a single cursory measure at one point with a measurement tape. It seems they don't expect enough to bother with before and afters. What they do spend time on is telling you to exercise the treated area half an hour a day and that results will vary. I did exercise and even dieted and did NOT see a reduction in the treated area. I told Pam that I had not lost anything in my arms but had lost half an inch in my hips which I didn't want. She said, "Why?" I said , "Because I'm here for my arms!"
I wonder if I even got the laser treatment in my later sessions because the warming effect was missing, which should have been noticeable. They were unprofessional and I have my doubts about whether they even bothered to complete the treatments according to any standards.
