So, so happy I went through with the surgery!

It's been a year and half since my surgery, so I'm posting updated results for those of you still considering this so you can see the long-term implications of what is probably just an idea for you right now.

In short, do it. And get Dr. Rahban to do it for you.

I'd never had any type of surgery before this and I was really, really nervous to get this done. Plus, I'm a pretty natural person and not what I would consider a typical plastic surgery candidate. But now that I'm through the process and seeing the results, I realize what a silly stereotype I had in my head about the whole thing. If you have something about yourself that you don't like and you're healthy enough and financially able to get it changed, you're a plastic surgery candidate. This doesn't make you a Kardashian.

Now that everything has more or less settled into place for me, I'm just so very happy that I went through with this and even happier that I chose Dr. Rahban to perform the surgery. I always hated my nose before, and now I don't think about it very much at all. It's as simple as that. I style my hair based on what I like and don't worry about how my nose will look. I don't think about how my face is angled anymore and I'm aware that my eyes look less tired than they used too. It feels like getting a really good haircut or the perfect outfit. If you choose the right person to perform the surgery for you, I think you'll feel the same.

Before surgery, and during the healing process, I was so worried that I'd look like one of those plastic surgery nightmares we've all seen. I was worried I wouldn't look like myself and that people would know and judge me when they found out. One and half years later, I can honestly say that I do still look like myself, only better, and that everyone who I've told has been supportive and encouraging.

Dr. Rahban is the absolute best at what he does and he will tell you the truth about what you do (and don't) need. You don't need to know all the answers before seeing him. If you're considering it, go in and see what he says. I interviewed several doctors before meeting Dr. Rahban and he was the only one I walked out of knowing that if I decided to do this, he would be the one.

It's pretty scary. It's permanent. It's expensive. So much is unknown in the beginning. But, it's also so very worth it.

Amazing Rhinoplasty Experience

I'm 8 months post-surgery now and I couldn't be happier with my results or my experience with Dr. Rahban and his staff.

I met with several doctors before my consultation with Dr. Rahban, and I knew right away that he was the one. After a good amount of time asking me to make various expressions and looking at my features from different angles, Dr. Rahban had me hold a mirror up as he went through my entire face in detail with me. Features I’d only vaguely known that I didn’t like, I now understood were disproportionate, crooked, or had changed due to aging. His bedside manner is honest and direct, clearly with the intention of arming his patients with as much information as possible.

It was clear to me by the way he was breaking down my face that he was looking at it from the perspective of a genuine artist, as well as a trained surgeon. He clearly had a vision of what my face could look like and did an amazing job of describing it to me so I could see it too. I’m not a visionary type of person, so this was something I greatly appreciated. This was different than the other surgeons I met with. They may have had the same image in their mind, but Dr. Rahban actually took the time to help me see it. That made all the difference in the world.

He even took the time to talk to me about what I should prioritize in case cost was an issue and explained why I should hold off on a few other procedures I’d asked about until I was older. He took his time, was extremely detail-oriented, and sincerely considered my individual situation with me until he knew that I had the information I was looking for. An absolute professional.

Dr. Rahban clearly chose his staff well also. They were as caring as they were knowledgeable. They provided me with so much information, prepared me perfectly for what to expect, and were patient with all of my questions. Everything went exactly as they told me it would and I felt like they genuinely cared about my outcome.

He was more expensive than the other doctors I met with, but it was definitely worth the price. It's one thing to gather information, but when you're sitting there in your gown before surgery you'll be so thankful you didn't save a few bucks. His experience, his bedside manner, and his artistic eye more than justify the cost. It's absolutely an example of getting what you pay for.

I also want to mention that I had multiple surgeries done at once. I originally went in for the rhinoplasty, but all of the doctors I met with mentioned getting my eyes done as well. I'm in my 40's so it's pretty common at my age. Honestly though, it took me a really long time to come to terms with adding on more procedures than what I was originally going in for. I’m not a surgery kind of person, I don’t really wear a lot of make-up, and am generally a natural kind of girl. So I was worried about what having so many procedures said about me. I was worried it would make it more obvious that I’d had surgery, that I wouldn’t look like myself anymore, or that recovery would be much harder.

But now that it’s over, I’m super grateful that I got it over all at once. All the procedures complimented each other (just like Dr. Rahban explained they would) and made the overall effect so much better. I would’ve absolutely regretted it if I hadn’t gotten my eyes done and mostly likely would’ve ended up having a second surgery to add that on . Also, I don’t feel like the recovery was affected in any way (other than having more bandages) because of it.

Speaking of recovery, it doesn’t actually hurt. I only took 1 or 2 of my pain pills and that was mostly because I was afraid it was going to hurt. It was sore, like a little achy sore. It’s uncomfortable. It’s icky. It’s swollen and a bit sensitive. But honestly I wouldn’t actually say that I felt actual pain at all.

Having never had surgery before, the whole process was pretty scary for me. But now that it's over, I'm so glad I did it. Just before heading into surgery and sitting afterwards with your bandages on for a week before seeing the results were the scariest parts. At those moments you'll be running through your doctors credentials over and over in your head to get you through mentally. This is when you'll be most glad you chose Dr. Rahban. Then, and after you've healed and see the beautiful results, of course.
