49 yr, no children. I always noticed I had a longer labia lips. About 10 years ago I developed a 'tag' on my left side, then my labia started to elongate more. I have to wear nylons to work, ouch! And then ok, working out - running - workout clothing... Ouch! Sex with my husband Ouch! Forget ever riding a bike -
Over the last 5 years the tag started to grow. I was embarrassed, not feeling sexual, no matter what my husband said, or did. I was always feeling it. I grew to hate it... My self esteem gone. Always afraid someone would say I have 'junk' if they caught me changing at the gym. Thank goodness for the Internet. Who do you talk to? This is not regular girl talk. My mother is in her 80"s this is not a conversation I could talk to her about. Her generation would just say that is the way God made you. ... I am uncomfortable sitting, standing even when I am receiving pleasure.
So, here I am. 4 years ago, I searched high and low about tags on the labia... Not much out there. Searching about anything with abnormalities with the labia. Finally found something!!! I could have it removed!!!
Ok reality.. I would have to travel to one of the few doctors who would preform the procedure. There were some who would use a laser or just cut it off (The TRIM method) to remove it. Recovery time seemed long and painful. Again, no one to ask questions. Just those who performed the surgery.
In June, I just had enough of the pain, aggravation of being in the way- not to mention I thought it was the tampon string and I pulled it. I searched the Internet again. New world !!!!
I found Real Self. I found real stories about everything- including other women with labia issues. More to learn now. I read more about the way the procedure could be performed, recovery times -stories & pictures from real ladies!! Found videos from doctors explaining the wedge method and the trim method. Ok, more to learn. I looked at play dough and cookie dough explanations and then Dr. O , explained with an actual video of one of his surgeries!
I made up my mind after that he was 'THE' Doctor for me. I made an appt. , btw I have a very different work schedule and they were very accommodating! My husband and I went to the appt very open minded, turned out we really liked what he had to say, and we liked his demeanor, and all of his staff.
We waited 2 weeks to absorb it all and scheduled surgery for the 17th of November. FYI I also was revising a previous BA, so, 2 procedures -1 time under, 1- time off of work, 1- time healing time off.
I knew all along I would have to tell my story good or bad. Ladies need to know information about Labiaplasty - another story so they can make an educated decision.
THIS WAS CAKE! I had all my pain meds ready to go... I took ZERO pain meds, I know everyone is different but this is now totally pain free without my lengthy labia lips! I had the WEDGE Method. Less exposed incisions and hardly any bruising. Dr. O, Meghan, Christina, and Sandy took extremely good care of me! I only have one pre op picture, and I am standing.
The 2nd pictures are the 3 days after surgery and the last 2 are today (11/22/15) 5 days after surgery. The lighting is different times of the day ... If you want to chit chat about my experience please feel free to contact me!! This is still a taboo subject and I had a wonderful experience and recommend Dr. Adam Oppenheimer for your procedure. My BA revision is beautiful too! Again, no pain:)
I will post more as more swelling goes down.

How much was your surgery? Do you still have full sensation around where you were operated on? I'd love to hear back from you! :D
I had 2 procedures done. If only the Labiaplasty it was $5100. Worth every penny!!

That doesn't sound bad at all. And the fact that there was no pain is amazing! (A big thing I'm worried about because I have heard it can be awful.) Thank you for your quick response! :)
the doctor did a fantastic job. I bet your self-confidence will be back in full real soon.
Thank you for trusting us. I'm proud of you!
Thank you!!! I am so amazed that there is no pain!!
On the sensation around the area- So far, I am babying it. I use a squirt water bottle to cleanse the area after urinating, pat dry and apply Vaseline. I feel the area as I am doing all these things. No sexual activity for a total of 3-4 weeks, waiting to be advised. I am not worried at all, I know I was in good hands.
