I wanted to document my tattoo removal journey...

WORTH IT$2,200
I wanted to document my tattoo removal journey because it seems to be somewhat of an epidemic on these boards. Two months ago, I rushed into getting a tattoo on the outside of my wrist. I went to a very well known local shop and figured that thin line work would be easy for anyone to do. Wrong. Somehow over the 45 minutes I was there I got talked into making it bigger so the lines would stay ''crisp'' (they have only blurred..and scarred) I have other tattoos and none of them hurt as much as this one. Halfway thru the artist told me she hadn't eaten all day ???????? But I still just prayed that it would somehow turn out alright. I've taken full responsibility for this, but it's wrecked my self confidence and sent me into some weird identity crisis. Ive made leaps and bounds this past year in my career and personal life and now I don't even want to shower or look at myself in the mirror. Funny how something so small can have such a huge impact.
Thanks for letting me rant like a crazy person
Ive had one Q switched and one Picosure treatment so far

Extreme anxiety
eveningthrushJune 28, 2017
Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone here has been thru the complete removal process? I'm having such a hard time with this and I'm not sure why.. I've had 3 q-switch and 2 pico treatments so far with light fading. Every time I get a treatment I feel super down the next day. I can't believe such a little thing has had such an impact on my well being.
Would love to hear some success stories <3

I am not thru the complete process, but on the road there.. I have severe anxiety issues over my tattoo. I feel discouraged and feel like I am not having any progress. They quoted me with 8 sessions for complete removal and I just had my 8th session and this hideous thing is still here. I have missed out on family vacations to the beach for 2 years now.. they say that it looks good but cannot tell me how many more treatments I will need. :( keep your head up and if you need to talk about it feel free to message me.

Tattoo Excision
eveningthrushMarch 21, 2018
Hey guys, I wanted to update you on my tattoo removal journey. After about 5 laser treatments (3 q-switch and 2 pico sure) without much movement, I ended up getting an excision last week. Pretty crazy stuff but I'm happy with the decision. I still have to get my stitches removed so I'll make sure to keep ya updated. Hope this helps someone out there. It's been a lonnnng 2 years with this thing and I'm happy to start the healing journey.

Any pictures to share ? The placement of your tattoo seems to be a good option for excision. Lucky you!
Hoping you are feeling great with your decision and the results! Power to you!!

I hear you about spinning off into a weird identity crisis (it was existential crisis for me), but cheer up, it could always be worse! You could have gotten a gigantic tattoo on your upper arm like me, and then regret it hardcore! :)
I think one of the common themes among us new tattoo-regretters is that we let the artist take too much control of the artistic direction and size of our tattoos. Even if they look great to an outsider's eye, it's not what we wanted. We had our own visions, dammit! In my case, I had wanted my tattoo for a long time; it was not a rash decision, but when the time came, I let my excitement and my artist's persuasion override my own desires.
It happens to the best of us, so don't beat yourself up over it. Thankfully tattoos don't have to be permanent anymore. So zap away!
Making this giant mistake has made me re-examine everything in my life. It gave me a new perspective on the meaning of permanence; the very definition of erasable and undoable mistakes. I saw someone else on the board say something to the effect of; "if this is the biggest mistake you've made in your life so far (or this year, or whatever), you're not doing so bad". It's been a big life lesson for me, one that I plan not to waste, what with the money and time and heartache I'm pouring into this. This will make us better people.
You've got a lot going for you, and I'm sure you've got more important things to worry about than some (pretty small!) scribble on your arm that is on its way out anyway. Just make sure to take good aftercare of the area so you won't be reminded of the tattoo with scars (which, even if you get them, also do fade over time by the way), cover it up, and go on with your life until the next laser session. :)
