I never considered ever having a facelift before I started reading all the reviews on Real Self. So, let me thank all of you now for giving me the courage to go through with this. I've scheduled my SMAS ON 9-10-15. Thats all I'm having done, no laser, no eye lift…(not that i don't need all of that, I just think I can only handle one procedure at a time). I'm 10 days away from my FL, and I'm starting to freak out. A couple years ago I started getting jowls and my neck looks like I'm an alien from another planet. So, I scheduled my surgery with Dr. Timothy Miller ,he's very qualified, double board certified ,very nice and has great reviews and results.

It's a huge decision. I has my lower facelift, necklift with fat augmentation performed on August 6, 2015. I was second guessing my decision until a out 10 days after and I looked 15 years younger. No pain, just tightness and swelling. I feel it's the best decision I made in a while. I did it for me and no one else. I hope this helps.

Only the first few days are rough (bruising, swelling, etc.), but the pain is minimal. Just be sure to keep your head elevated and your wrap on as directed for the full month at night. If you don't, your neck, jowls and chin will not heal as tight as they would otherwise be, which defeats the purpose of the SMAS lift . Don't freak out; you will LOVE the results and be very grateful you took the leap.

Thanks for the advice. I bought my wedge, but thats all I've done so far. Dr. Miller doesn't believe in taking arnica before, but after he says I can use it.

He told me not to wear the wrap anymore??? I just started putting on arnica gel ,do you think I can put regular lotion over it?

If he's well qualified and great reviews then no need to freak out. But I know, we can't help it can we?! I'm over 3 months post op from my face lift and I couldn't be happier ;-) ...you will be so pleased you did it! X

6 days until my FL. I just got my wedge, I hope it's not to high(12 inches). I tried sleeping on it last nite, pretty comfortable, except I woke laying on my side and my head slid all the way down. lol. I added some profile pics of me, this is what I hate most.

Ha!! I remember the wedge when I had my fL, yes keep your head elevated. I had my fl at 48, when it was just starting. So when I was done, I looked 30!! I was doing Nuderm Obagi also, so my skin looked awesome. I was so darn happy with my results!!! You'll love your results!!! I am excited for you!!! I hope you have someone to care for you, because you should not bend over. My husband was a sweetheart. Best of luck to you...you will be bruised for 2 weeks, then you'll be beautiful!!! FL is approaching soon. Yesterday I picked up my meds, kids toothbrush , bacitracin ,peroxide , q-tips, arnica gel and hair clips.
I feel like I'm missing something . I'm still drinking coffee in the morning (do u think that's ok?). The worst part is no more wine.????

Part of my message to you did not go through. I was VERY impressed by your surgeon and his amazing pics of the facelift scars, could not detect them and no change to earlobes. I live in San Diego and have been researching. Good luck with your surgery and can't wait to see your after photos!!

Thanks Laura1655, that was one of the reasons I chose him, because of his incision placement, and his excellent stitching. The only one I'm worried about is the chin incision.

I have had 4 different procedures and refrain from wine/alcohol for 24 hrs before and 24 hrs after and have had no problems with bleeding etc...I would also recommend arnica tablets to start 1 wk pre-op and take every few hrs just before and after the procedure and then continue for about 10 days 3X a day. It will dramatically reduce the bruising and swelling.

Thanks for the great advice. My Dr. doesn't want me to use arnica pre op, but he said I could use it after. I bought arnica gel , should I take the arnica pills also?
