Make Sure You're Comfortable with the Medical Team!

The technology is great - minimal scarring & quick recovery time. The procedure itself was fine - the results were only slightly noticeable but I may not have been a good candidate. I'm giving 3 starts because the overall experience was problematic. I was disappointed with the initial consultation with Dr. Bhatt and with my interactions with the staff at this location. The doctor was extremely awkward, barely spoke and was confusing when he did say something. He definitely didn't put me at ease as other clients stated in their reviews. He didn't ask me anything about myself. So I took the lead in the consult by sharing why I was there and what I wanted done. I asked if I was a good candidate and he looked perplexed, pause for a long while and then said something about one area on my body, but I didn't understand what. The conversation went in a weird direction and I left extremely confused by what had happened. I still don't get why it was so difficult to talk to him. It was only after I left the office that I realized didn't get any answers about the healing process and what results to expect. I asked for a follow up call with him to discuss this but his office said no. (Another red flag I regret I ignored). I tried to share some feedback about my experience during a follow up but stopped short when I felt he really wasn't listening. So I'll share here in case it's helpful:
1) The entire initial consultation could've been far less awkward and far more productive; 2) I didn't appreciate that his staff repeatedly ignored my questions about my allergies to certain meds; 3) the procedure was not what I was told to expect. It didn't hurt but I was startled that I could feeling a large needle being shoved around abdomen and my body was tension up uncomfortably. 4) It would've helped to be told what was going on during procedure (like other procedures I've had when awake). 5) the staff could've prepared better - they gave me the wrong size compression garments but didn't seem to think it was a problem; my other doctors were shocked by this but maybe it's not a big deal? 6) The doctor and three nurses I spoke to all had different guidance about post-op instructions in terms of what garments to wear and for how long. Also, I wasn't told until 1 month after procedure that foam surgical pads can create permanent dents in your body if you don't adjust and reposition them from time to time - why wouldn't they tell you that in prep? And 7) I found out too late that the post-op massages to promote healing work best when you go in the first 2 weeks after surgery - this is important to note if you're worried about lumpiness/unevenness post-op. (One side of my belly sticks out a little more than the other now).
My results yielded slight improvements, but really don't justify the significant cost. I really wish I'd asked better questions because I probably would've chosen a different type of procedure or doctor for myself.
