Aggressive IPL for sun damage and PIH hyperpigmentation
WORTH IT$450
IPL was more than I expected-more uncomfortable, way more downtime, and finally more glowy results.
My appointment started with a consultation I go over my skin concerns (sun damage, hyperpigmentation from acne, small broken capillaries), followed by a thick layer of numbing cream. I want sure how effective IPL would be, so I just wanted to do one treatment instead of immediately committing to a series. The NP performing the IPL was very knowledgeable and recommended a more aggressive approach since I just wanted one treatment. She did warn me that I would have “little red blotches” on my face for a while.
The procedure itself hurt! It’s much worse than the “snapping rubber band” sensation some people compare it to. But it wasn’t intolerable. Afterward my face felt hot, like a sunburn...but looked like I had been attached by an octopus!
The red/purple blotches seemed to be worse in areas where she had treated me for capillaries. They were almost impossible to cover with makeup too.
Despite all that, the results speak for themselves. I absolutely loved my skin about 2.5-3 weeks later! I plan to do another treatment as needed.

Awesome results! Would you please share a picture before the numbing cream? Sorry but I can’t really tell with the cream; like did you have brown spots on cheeks?

What do you mean by aggressive treatment? How bad does it really hurt ? I'm terrified getting it done tomorrow

You'll be ok. And it will be worth it! Usually they recommend doing a series of 3 or 4 treatments, but I just wanted to do one so my esthetician tried to give me the most "bang for my buck". That's what I mean by aggressive treatment. I've had another less aggressive treatment since then and my face did NOT look crazy like in the photos above. I would say the pain is about a 3 on a scale of 1-10. Take an Advil before you go in and get there a bit early so the numbing cream has time to work.

From what I've heard its recomended to do multiple treatment. 3-5 . One aggressive treatment is usually not a good idea. Its better to do multiple spaced out 4 weeks apart. And you still can get good results without possibly causing damage
Your results look fantastic - thanks so much for sharing! Please do keep us updated if you opt for any further treatments :)
