3.5 Weeks Post Op

Hey yall!
I made an ethnic rhino page on IG (ethnicrhinogram) where you can follow all of my updates. It's just easier to post there.
But since I'm here I'll update on my journey 3.5 weeks in!
So I got the cast removed and WOW my nose looked CRAZY! LOL the doctor asked what I thought and I really couldn't say anything. I just told her I was excited to see the swelling go down. It was so crusty, swollen, my pores were filled to the brim with endless pints of sebaceous filaments (dirty gross oil ) but i was so so happy to finally have that itchy, bloody cast off! I was nervous about getting the packing pulled out of my nose because some people said it would hurt. My nose was really crusty so I assumed the packing had crusted over and would be a pain to pull out, but it was not too bad! Didn't hurt but it was just a very weird feeling and the pressure made me tear up. I still wore the bandage for another week while in public because I was very self conscious of how my nose looked at that point. It was the holidays tho so thankfully I didn't need to go into the office and mainly hid in the house until Christmas.
At 2 weeks I started to be less self conscious of wearing my nose out. This is also when the doctor removed the black stitching from my nose (around my nostrils) which made it a bit easier to go around with my nose. It was still extremely swollem tho. Also, fun fact because of the surgery and all the swelling and bruising I've developed dark under eye circles which I've NEVER had before. So the most makeup I wore was concealer to hide the dark circles. Hurt to put on makeup. Also still hurt to laugh which sucks because my laugh is extra af so whenever something would tickle me I had to try hard not to laugh too wide. Also HELLA congested still and primarily breathing through my mouth.
At 3 weeks aka NOW - obviously still very swollen but no longer super self conscious about people noticing that I had a nose job. I'm still getting used to the look of my nose not gonna lie. It's a bit jarring to look at myself in the mirror because it's just not the me that I'm used to! my nostrils are a huge change and also my nose is more straight now vs swooped as it was so these are big changes that I'm trying to get used to. But I know I'll get there. I still sleep upright at night and I'm still super congested, breathing through my mouth 85% of the time which sucks because I've done speech therapy before to train my tongue to sit in the top of my mouth vs the bottom, and the number one thing that causes your tongue to sit on the bottom of your mouth is BREATHING THROUGH YOUR MOUTH so no bueno. But in terms of the look, it's looking better and better! I'm considering getting fillers just to help my face look a bit more angular. With my new nose being so straight and my face being so round, it seems like a bit of a mismatch but we shall see!

In for the long haul

Finally got my surgery! After many years of wanting this done I finally finally found the right doctor to do it.

Day of surgery was a breeze. I was just super drowsy but little to no pain. My nostrils look extremely different, can't wait to see what the rest of my nose looker like. Overall, very happy and excited I did this. I had a friend stay the night at my place the first night which i think is IMPERATIVE. You must must have someone stay with you that first night whether it be a nurse, your family member, or friend, I couldn't imagine not having anyone with me that first couple of nights but the first night especially. There is no pain but just a lot of discomfort and it helps to have people be able to take care of you as you don't want to move around too much. Anyway, I'll try to keep sharing here but most likely my next update will be after I get the cast off in a week.

Before Pics

A few pics of what I'm hoping my nose will look like and before pics. I used Facetune, never showed the doctor a different nose other than mine. Not a massive change, just more refined and less nostril flare
