How it works
- Our highly-trained Review Moderation team evaluates all reviews before they're published to ensure they're written by people like you and not a member of a doctor's office.
- This multi-step process takes up to 24 hours from review submission to publication.
- Doctors can't pay to have reviews removed or hidden.
- Reviews are only removed at the reviewer's request or if they violate our Terms of Service.

Sorry Dr. Ok, I Am Going with Dr. Taskin After All.
I previously created a review about my pre-surgery experience with Dr. Ok. It was fairly detailed on why I was going to schedule surgery with him.
However, with the recent weather, I have been dealing with a sinus flare-up. I stop breathing when I sleep. I participated in a sleep study, thinking it could be sleep apnea, but it wasn't. Instead, the tissue in my nose becomes so inflamed that it creates an air blockage.
In my other review, I mentioned that Dr. Taskin is an ENT. I specifically need surgery to address a turbinate reduction with the breaking of my nasal bones. A nose job was just the bonus. So, keeping in mind that I need a functional change, and after reviewing Dr. Taskin's photos, I decided I would reach out to him to book surgery.
As of today, I have paid a deposit to reserve my surgery date (July 22nd). I have already reserved my hotel stay at the nearby Hilton. This is all contingent on international travel restrictions being eased due to COVID19.
Both doctors have been great. I really appreciated Dr. Ok taking time to walk me through his process. I also appreciate Dr. Taskin's patience in answering all of the WhatsApp messages I have sent them. Comparing this experience with U.S. surgeons, I've found their responsiveness to be totally reassuring.
In addition to my nasal surgery, I will also have eyelid surgery to address droopy skin plus some lipo along my jawline. I'll keep updating you all on this journey. Please also follow my tummy tuck journey with Dr. Baez in Tijuana, MX.

Plot twist
I am dealing with severe congestion, nasal drip, and sinus pressure due to allergies. Due to my suffering, I am reminded as to why I need nasal surgery to begin with. Thus, I am reconsidering Dr. Umit Taskin who is an ENT. Dr. Ok does great work but is a trained plastic surgeon. I truly need a functional change with a cosmetic twist.
I am not having nasal surgery until August, so I have a bit of time to truly think this out. But thanks to sinus issues, I am likely to go with Taskin.

Planning for Post-Covid Surgery
Hello all. I am beginning this journey in April, during the coronavirus pandemic. At the time of this entry, Turkish borders are closed and flights from the US are limited.
Therefore, I am in a holding position in this process.
However, after several weeks of thinking that I would have surgery with Dr. Umit Taskin, I made the decision to move forward with Dr. Bora Ok. Why?
I love Dr. Taskin's work. As I am in need of turbinate reduction and bilateral tube implants to improve my breathing, I figured I would go ahead and make some cosmetic changes. Dr. Taskin is an Ear, Nose & Throat surgeon so this is his specialty. So why Dr. Ok?
First, both doctors are very responsive. I have been in direct contact with Taskin for weeks. However, when I reached out to Dr. Ok just to compare quotes, his assistant immediately scheduled a video call between me and him. Dr. Ok called me then explained his process for ethnic rhinoplasty. He explained realistic expectations and advised me that if I was looking for some "Instagram nose" then I would likely be disappointed.
His office also sent me a quote. He's a plastic surgeon who is able to do more procedures than Dr. Taskin. Dr. Ok and I discussed removing extra skin from my eyelids. He laughed and said I was young, but he could do the procedure if I liked.
Second reason I am going with Dr. Ok is that his office sent me a detailed quote that included accommodation. His quote, with hotel, was cheaper than Dr. Taskin. Price isn't the sole factor here; it's that his assistants have taken charge with planning my surgery. Whereas with Dr. Taskin, I felt like I had to handle my planning on my own.
I like both doctors. However, as I am an American traveling to a foreign country for surgery, I felt more at ease working with Dr. Ok's office. I felt my experience would be tailored for me. I truly feel reassured by that.
So, I will go with Dr. Ok. I cannot schedule a date until the pandemic eases and travel resumes. But when I reach the next step in this process, I will be back with an update.
