Hello my fellow Real Self users,
I wanted to share my experience dealing with Dr Bora OK's patient coordination team. I have not had a chance to gave surgery so this post is not a review on Dr Bora's work but please do take into account the type of people you're dealing with when you choose to book any surgery with Dr Bora.
I've been researching Dr Bora since 2020 when I first got my initial ethnic rhinoplasty quote. In 2020 my quote included, surgery, hospital stay, hotels day, transfers. My initial quote was £4000. Some time had passed and we were now during Covid times but I requested for another quote however this time I was quoted £4500 yet there was no hotel included. I asked and I was kindly offered to have my original £4000 quote however there were still no hotel included in this. Fast forward to the end of 2021 and I received a quote for 4900 this time no longer including hotel and transfer the price was now strictly for the surgery itself and the hotel stay bearing in mind you have to also pay additional for all of the medication you must take post surgery.
Honestly speaking I was quite confused at why the price continue to go up given that on each time I received a quote there was something no longer included so was unable to justify why the price continue to go up. I queried this with the patient coordinator Dünya, and had to be extremely convincing just to get this reduced to £4200. I Was told this is the lowest they could go, they would not honour my original quote even though most of the high expenses included were no longer factored into the quote. I asked several times why the price was going up even though things were being removed and I would get no satisfactory answer to this. I was happy to pay the £4200 as I really wanted to have surgery with Dr Bora - I paid my deposit in January sent via Swift bank transfer which cost me £25 and booked my flight informing the patient coordinator my plans of arrival.
My surgery date was scheduled for 20th May 2022.
I was doing at some more research of past and future patients of Dr Bora on some forums and came across a surgery forum, whereby a user had posted all recent quotes as of February 2022 from multiple ethnic rhinoplasty surgeons in Turkey Istanbul. One being a quote for 3500 for surgery on a nose she described as 'bulbous'. Firstly I want to say that I was happy with the price I was quoted and willing to pay but found it very confusing that multiple people get different quotes even though at the time you are quoted it is not based on what you want in your surgery it is strictly based on whether your nose is ethnic or European. I wanted VERY MINIMAL changes to my top only. I have a bridge and wanted to keen my nose as similar as possible which is one reason why I chose to have surgery with Dr Bora.
I took a screenshot of the post and sent it to Dünya, and asked if she could explain why multiple people were getting different quotes considering that I requested to have my original quote and only wanted a small amount of work done I found it odd that other ethnic patients were getting cheaper quotes. Dünya was very hostile with me from the minute I every asked for my quote to be reassessed, so when I came to her with this I already knew the type of response I would get. She refused to discuss other patients which is totally understandable, but she felt to understand that I wasn't asking her about patient details and strictly asking about why people are getting different price quotes given that when you ask for a quote they do not confirm if you need extensive of minimal surgery.
I asked kindly to have a receipt or breakdown of my surgery cost which is standard in western countries do you have a price of how much do you need to test cost the surgery room the cost of staying overnight at the hospital, the cost of the food you eat whilst you stay, the cost and hire of nurses and the surgeon himself etc. bearing in mind that anyone could fling together numbers and make it total to £4200.
I was told that they do not provide breakdowns of the price as this is strictly confidential with the patient coordinators and the individuals participating within the surgery.
However I then got a message via WhatsApp from a different Turkish number stating that because I've queried about the price it shows that I no longer trust them and they were cancelling my surgery and wanted to send me my money.
I was shocked, disappointed, hurt, confused angry. I didn't know what to do. I would message, call, and not much response constantly being ignored by them. I would ask specific questions regarding this saying why would my surgery be cancelled because I've asked for a price breakdown I do trust in Dr Bora as he is a surgeon I have been researching for years and I only want him to do my surgery however this had no effect. Every message I would send I would just either be ignored or told to send my banking information so they can return my deposit.
I explained that in none of the contract or paperwork sent to me does it state that my surgery can be cancelled based on me querying or asking any questions regarding my surgery so I was shocked that this is the decision that they had come to. I explained that if they want to transfer me my money they would also have to reimburse me for the fact that I have paid for my flight and also the £25 fee it cost me to originally sent the deposit to them as it's not my fault they are cancelling this is their decision so they will need to pay for the inconvenience this is now causing me.
They completely refused to pay for my flight costs or the transfer fee. They are now ignoring every message and DM that I send.
I would like all potential patient of Dr Bora to be mindful of the team you are dealing with.
I do not dispute that Dr Bora's work is good and I would have loved to have surgery with him however the patient coordinator team lets down the whole service. They're rude, unpleasant, and have no care or compassion towards dr Bora's patients.
Please think before you say anything to these people if you're serious about wanting surgery with him because Dünya and the patient coordinator manager WILL RUIN IT FOR YOU!
It does make me think how they would treat people post surgery. I wonder how people are treated if they have any queries or concerns post surgery by the patient coordinator team and I have previously read statements where people have been ignored and not treated the same as they were pre-surgery.
Just be mindful and make an informed decision!
