Got my cast removed!
I got my cast and outside stitches removed today (the inside stitches will dissolve over time) and I am very pleased so far.
Dr. Taskin has been wonderful and he is also pleased with the results so far. He let me know that when he removes the cast that I would have swelling but it will go away over time to give me more definition. Even with the swelling, it is still smaller than my previous nose so the swelling isn’t really bothering me. I do think that my bridge is a smidge high but I have noticed that a lot of AA noses look like that immediately after rhinoplasty, but settles after a few weeks so I’m not too worried (also, the after pictures he took immediate after surgery showed that my bridge wasn’t as high so I think it’s also the swelling). I’ve also mentally prepared myself by reading through a lot of AA rhinoplasty journies here on RS. This site has been and continues to be a wealth of information.
He also said that he was very pleased with the way that I’ve been taking care of my incisions around my nose because they are healing very very well with hardly any scaring, yayyy!
Also, my husband had lasik while we are here and it’s amazing! He couldn’t see without glasses and now his vision is 20/12 and the eye doctor said it will get even better over the next few weeks!
I know a lot of people are skeptical about coming to Turkey (I know I was) but it has been a really good experience. Traveling here continues to show me that we are more alike than we are different.

Day 2-3 BlowFish Status
I still can’t believe that I actually did it! But I am so glad that I followed through and didn’t leave it in the realm of wishing.
So on Day 2 and 3 my face swelled up like a blowfish. I’ve been taking Arnica since the surgery day but I don’t think it’s really doing anything but I’ll keep taking it and drinking lots of water. The area around my rib is where most of the pain is really coming from since that’s where cartilage was taken from. It hurt a lot on day 1 but now on day 3 although my rib still hurts, it definitely doesn’t hurt as much as it did on day 1. The swelling on my face looks worse than it actually feels. I look like I got into a crazy fight lol but I just feel puffy.
From what I see so far of my nose with the cast on, I am excited. When I clean my nose with a 50/50 mix of water and peroxide and apply the antibiotic ointment that he provided I am optimistic that any incisions with heal very well. He also provided a 5 day course of antibiotics as well.
