African-American woman in Korea for Rhinoplasty and Genioplasty . I'm hours away from getting a nose job that I've wanted since I was a teen. Yikes! I wanted a nose job for a very long time but up until this year I couldn't get myself to follow through with my desires. I will be getting my work done at the VIP clinic in Korea tomorrow 1/23/18 by Dr. Myung Lee ??

Day 1: Post-Op

Kelz198
I arrived 5 days prior to my surgery in Seoul. This gave me some time to see Seoul and add some stories to my Snapchat before folks got suspicious ???????????. Day of surgery went well. I had taken all my tests prior and had a final ?? to ?? with doctor. I told doctor, bruh (swallows) just don't give me a Lil' Kim or Tamar nose (no ????). Dr. Lee looked at my photos and assured I was gonna be looking like.. melanin chocolately GOOD aka baddie status ???????? (kidding ). I honestly told him to make me look better but make natural, realistic, changes. I was taken to the surgical room (bruh on the 5th floor), sat on a green table and woke up hours later screaming for Chloe (amazing woman who arranged my surgery. but more in her awesomeness later). I mustered up enough strength to take this pic.
A few things
1. The pain is pain... manageable with pain killers
2. Rhinoplasty the worse part is the slimy tongue you get from breathing through your mouth and brewing through your mouth
3. Genioplasty the worse part is that my gums hurt
4. Face is very swollen
5. Nose still looks big but it taped so not sure what I'm working with until next week ????????
6. I have a bloody bottle attached to my body from where doctor removed my rib ???? (see picture)
7. I had 4 procedures which include: Rhinoplasty, Genioplasty, mid-face augmentation , and alar base reduction (face harmony Rhinoplasty with genioplasty)
8. I'm staying in VIP apartment for 2 weeks. Great accommodations. (Pics later)
9. The staff at VIP are amazing!!!
10. I had/have a fever post- surgery. They say it's common.

Was this your first plastic surgery? And does the rib donor site hurt a lot? good luck and good recovery
January 29, 2018
Hi, Yes first surgery. The donor site hurt tremendously! In the hospital you will get medicine to assist with the pain and the pills they give you doesn't help much while your recovering. I would say I have a low pain tolerance and it's bearable. The most uncomfortable time is the first 5 days and at night. My swelling has gone done so my recovery is speedy. Will post more pics soon.

Your review is so funny, i love it! Do you mind breaking down the cost of the procedure? and did you use Rib or Silicon?
January 30, 2018
Ok I read that you used Rib :) hence the bloody bottle duh lol
January 30, 2018

January 31, 2018

New face, who dis?

Kelz198
Two days ago, I saw my "new" face. Honestly, I didn't want to see the results of my procedure until most of swelling went down. I know myself, I can be sensitive Suzy and would be in my feelings if I didn't like the results. The nursing staff encouraged me to take a peek and I said nope! She did offer to take pictures with my phone which I allowed her to do. I made a mental note to myself to avoid looking at the pictures until my last day or when my compression tape was removed. On my walk back to the apartment, curiosity got the best of me, and I looked at the pictures!! Ugh! I hated it! TEARS! What did I do to my face??? I wanted my old nose and chin back. I thought about calling my mama... (No one knows I had surgery...kept it between me and the lord, lol). Anyway, I dissected all 5 pictures and I only have the courage to show y'all 1 pic. All my swelling went down besides my chin. (It looks odd to have a Slim face, swollen chin). So to me, I am in that awkward stage. My chin should go down in 2-3 weeks. I'm currently 8 days post-op. I know I have 26-51 weeks to start seeing the final results until then I will try to figure out, "who dis?" as I get use to my new face.
A few things:
1. Arnica Montana is your best friend. It helps reduce swelling. I take it faithfully 3x a day. I wanted to take it pre-op but they said it was unnecessary. The internet has mixed views about when to take it
2. Pumpkin soup helps with reducing swelling but I didn't like the taste.
3. Walk around a lot after your surgery. Shopping in Korea is amazing!
4. I had 4 procedures.
1- rib cartilage Rhinoplasty ($11,000) with 2-alarplasty which reduced my wide nostrils
3-mid face augmentation ($3000)- I probably shouldn't have gotten this procedure. It helped to fix my protruding lips. In my opinion it takes away the essence of the African American features but then again my side profile was UGLY!
4-genioplasty ($6000) to fix my chin and balance my procedures
5. I didn't pay 20K for my surgery. I was able to get a few discounts because I had MULTIPLE procedures. You also get a discount when you pay in cash. Also this is YOUR face. I'm not going cheap on my face. My body on the other hand....(side note, I almost went to the Philippines to Dr. Yap at Icon for $4000. His work appears to be amazing but the bad reviews was unsettling). Choose wisely and save more money to hopefully get the best possible results.
6. It was a hassle paying with a cc. Pay in cash!
7. The apartment is cozy and FREE. It is the clinic's apartment, 10 mins away from the clinic.
8. The staff at VIP really take care of you. They bought me groceries!
9. Since my surgery I saw 4 other black folks getting procedures. This is the spot!
10. Dr.Lee is funny as hell! He's conservative in his approach and doesn't use foreign substances. Also he only performs ONE surgery a day. Do your research!

your profile looks insanly good. Keep us updated pls.

Thanks for answering my questions! Girl you look good so far! It's only going to look better with time! I'm particularly interested to see how the midface augmentation comes about. This is the first that I'm hearing about that surgery. What exactly do they do for that? Do they break your vibes or add implants... etc? Also your genioplasty is when they slide the chin forward right? No chin implant if in correct! Can't wait to read your updates as you heal! Excited for you hun!
January 31, 2018
and post a front view pls if the front view is close to your profile you must look like a model
January 31, 2018
Thank you!
January 31, 2018
@applepeacobbler the mid face augmentation helps to fix protruding lips. The VIP clinic website explains it really well. Dr. Lee does not use implants or foreign substances. Those are bas for our body and you may get an infection. The genioplasty slides the chin forward. I do not have a chin implant. I'm actually getting use to the new me!
January 31, 2018
does the midface augmentation alter how your cheeks and cheekbones look?

I think your procedure went well. Congrats!

Hi! I had a rib Rhinoplasty at VIP last autum. I am going to do a review some times later. The nose is still swelling down after 4months. What I don´t like: They did a quite big scar at the skin by accident, which is visable. There was no need to cut at this place. And another big [RS bleep] is, that my teeth aren´t visable as well as it is with you... I paid the whole amount, but got a face-fatgrafting for free. Unfortunately it didn´t last so long. If I would have paied for that, I would be really angry, because they told me that is going to stay. I got my flight from Europe for less than 600. I paid about 11, that´s about 9t€. If you got a discount, how much did you pay?
February 11, 2018
I mean 11t$ for the surgery!
February 11, 2018
@miken21 could you post pictures? What do you mean you have a scar? I was hoping internal swelling would go down within a month, but 4 months??? They did say you have to wait 6-12 months to see the final results. Have you tried taking Arnica Montana?
February 11, 2018
What exactly is face fat grafting?
February 11, 2018
can you post pictures of your surgery at vip
February 14, 2018
Hi, I'm the person who started the original posts on VIP African American Rhinoplasty and am presently 14 months post-op. Yes you have swelling for quite awhile but it's not that recognizable. You are correct, it takes about 12 months to see the final results. :)
February 14, 2018
I couldn't be happier with my nose from them ..
March 7, 2018
Rhinoplasty takes a full year to see the final result. Fat grafting can have a high rate of absorption no matter where you get it done. Thee are other factors as well such as if you lose weight.

Thank you for stating the post. You pointed me in the RIGHT direction
