Update
So I am exactly two weeks away from my 8 month post op. I promised myself I’d be honest about this journey and I’m going to do just that. Let’s start with the most important question to get it out the way: am I happy with my results? I would say I’m content. I’m still in my healing process so I guess it’s not surprising I’m not entirely happy, but I will say I’m not botched so I’m relieved. When I originally went to get this surgery I had booked with another surgeon but through RealSelf I found a review from a woman who did not like her surgery, and after reaching out to her she put me in contact with other women who also didn’t like their surgery-and at that time she suggested I go to Dr. Bora as she was thinking about going to him for her revision. It was last minute decision as I was already scheduled for surgery with the other doctor in 3 months and I really wanted this to be done for my birthday so I went off the couple reviews I saw here and most importantly a popular account that went to Dr. Bora (which I won’t include because I don’t think she’s lying about liking *her* results and I don’t want to give off the impression I think she was paid for her review) so I cancelled with the other Dr. and booked with Dr. Bora. Anyway, I say this to say after I got back to the states I was able to get in contact with A LOT more women who went to him(for some reason the community for AA rhinoplasty is like an underground group you have to search and search and seaaaaarch to find people or have someone put you in a group chat or be in a certain IG community to find other experiences) and there I spoke to a lot of patients that were unhappy months and even a year+ after the surgery. The complaints vary from too conservative(which, even at 8 months I can tell most of my swelling is gone and I’m not going to have the exact nose we discussed), I spoke to about 3 women who felt their nose healed crooked, and others who felt like they weren’t really cared for after the money was taken, surgery was done, review was posted and they went back home. Every time they would reach out they’d get comments like “just wait a year” or worse- he denied seeing anything wrong with noses that did cause some concern(which I’ve seen myself). Something to note- ALL the videos you see where there are reviews taken either with bandages or without are taken in a room with Dr. Bora and his assistants there(in my room there was about 4 people besides Dr Bora). On my cast off day while I waited in the hospital’s waiting area to be called to take my bandages off, I felt like I was being pressured for my consent to take a video with an initial review as soon as they were able to get the tape off. I said no countless times before I finally gave in, then after when I got the bandages taken off and couldn’t hide my initial disappointment(don’t worry your nose won’t look the same months later as it did during cast off) I told his assistant that on second thought I did not want to be recorded, and when she relayed the message to Dr. Bora I could tell he was instantly annoyed by his expressions and the way the girls face looked after he mumbled something to her. Funny thing is there was a girl that went right before me to get her bandages off, and her video praising his work is on IG. I say this to say don’t trust those reviews as you don’t see the crew of people in the room, plus no one with thick skin can *honestly* say they LOVE their results immediately after cast off. Again, I don’t think everyone is lying because initially I was over the moon too until that initial high from finally going through with the surgery wore off and I realized it was more of me putting all my trust into my doctor rather than seeing immediate results. Looking back at pics from my first month of surgery my nose really wasn’t that different as before surgery. So now back to MY results and experience. Overall I am happy when I look back at old pictures and see a difference in my nose. I’d be lying to say I don’t see any changes and that I’m not happier now with my new nose, but I do feel like he could have been more aggressive with his approach. My tip dropped drastically, which is kind of disappointing because now my tip looks round and fat just like before surgery(again my nose is still overall smaller than what it was before surgery) as opposed to my 2nd month when the tip was more up and gave that triangle nose affect(which we had agreed on prior to surgery.) Its also still very hard at the touch which kinda makes the tip look like a little brick if you know what I mean but I’m going to give that a couple more months to soften. Again, PERSONALLY I am content with my results. To me it looks like a smaller version of my old nose, and although it’s not exactly how I envisioned my nose, with contour and highlight it does exactly what I wanted this surgery to do- make my other features more prominent instead of my nose taking up my whole face. My advice to anyone looking to have surgery: even if it’s not with this Dr PLEASE find reviews of people that have gone to your doctor months before you have and message them. I’ve realized a lot of people leave reviews initially where they’re all ecstatic and months later don’t revisit this site to update people when complications occur, or again when that initial excitement from the procedure wears down and they realize their nose isn’t exactly what they expected it would be post surgery. What helped for me is making a separate IG account for this journey. The trick is to follow rhino accounts that you see pop up in the comments of the surgeon of your choice, and message them letting them know you’re interested in having surgery with this doctor so they’ll accept you. A lot of people are skeptical though and they’ll want to make sure you’re actually following because you’re considering this doctor and not just to be nosey or someone they know in real life so follow a lot of ethnic accounts, that way then they see your follow request they’ll also see you follow (for instance) ethnicrhino, ethnicrhino_, and 10 others, that way they’ll know you are someone that is really just interested in seeing results from others in the community and they’ll more than likely accept you. Again, if you want to see my results please message me for my insta. I won’t be posting on here because I have freckles on my nose that are a dead giveaway of my identity for anyone that knows me(not that I think anyone in my real life is on RealSelf searching for me lol but it just gives me peace of mind). I’ll update you at 12 months if I can because for some reason real self didn’t let me post my 3 month update or respond to some messages ???? which brings me to my final suggestion. Please don’t just go off of results you see on here. I found out that one way doctors make it so that they seemingly only have good reviews is by disputing some of these reviews, saying they never did surgery on that person.. which I won’t get too much into because I don’t want my account to “somehow” get flagged. Anyways hope this was helpful guys. Until my next review.
AA rhinoplasty
Ok, so this is going to be a lengthy review but just to get the most important part out of the way - Dr. Bora’s work has exceeded my expectations. I am currently 13 days post op. I took the tape off just because I got paranoid about not cleaning it considering I left it taped for a couple days and my results look so natural, not to mention even with the swelling my nose is already more defined than what it is pre-op. I traveled from the US to Istanbul all alone and not once did I feel unsafe. The driver picked me up from the airport and brought me to the hotel & vise versa as promised, in a van like car with room for a whole family if needed. The hotel was spacious, as was another concern for me considering I would be spending a week there and I didn’t upgrade the room because I wasn’t bringing anyone with me. Free breakfast is provided daily as well as room cleaning services, sometimes even twice a day. As far as communication, once I was there any time I contacted Iglin she was prompt at responding to me and came to check on me throughout the day at the hospital and when I went back to my hotel. The day of surgery, Dr. Bora and I spoke for a while until we determined what would be the best approach for me to attack all the things I didn’t like about my nose. He never once made me feel rushed, and was honest with me about what he could achieve, and what he wasn’t willing to do and why(the negative outcome that would come from it). Even before I told him exactly what I wanted done he was already assessing my nose with his eyes and began to touch the tip and sides to really get an idea of what he’d be working with. There were times while we talked where he would bring me to the mirror so I could get an idea of what we’d agree to change, and how it would look after, all while asking me if I’d be comfortable with those changes. He quoted me for a time but let me know there was a possibility it could be longer, because he wanted to take his time making sure he achieved the results I wanted rather than being time conscious throughout. A couple hours later I woke up and was wheeled back to my hospital room and later that day he came to check on me and let me know everything went well. So now for the cons, because I want to make this review as honest as possible. Before coming to Istanbul I had trouble getting in contact with his assistants. I was in between two at the time and felt like the wait times were at times unacceptable. There were days where I had to message twice and three times to get a response(over a course of hours and even a day once or twice), but after reaching out to Dr. Bora directly he informed me it was because he was in the middle of hiring new assistants, and at the moment there was the only one handling all of his patients as well as potential candidates. Another con is that at the hospital some of the nurses only understood little English, and you need a Turkish number to use to hospitals WiFi so there was a bit of a language barrier when I was trying to communicate before I was able to connect to WiFi and use the translate app. I will say this isn’t necessarily a con because I can’t expect people in a foreign county to know an extensive amount of my language just to accommodate me and other English speaking patients, but for what it’s worth I’m leaving it in the review so others are aware. Besides that I have no negative comments about the doctors approach and would do it again in a heartbeat, although I’m sure I won’t need to. I told myself I would wait a couple months before writing a review but after seeing my nose today (and like I said, this is even with swelling) I am so pleased with the results I felt like I had to come on here and write an in-depth review about my experience. With that being said, if anything drastic changes I will definitely come back and update you all. I’m not very comfortable posting pics yet (that could change) but in the meantime if anyone wants to see my before and after PM me and I’ll be happy to provide you with before/after pics. Thank you so much Dr. Bora I’m confident I wouldn’t have received this same results had I would have stayed in the states you are a genius and a master at your craft!!!!
