low "SELFIE" esteem

ORIGINAL POST

28 year old w/ low "SELFIE" esteem

WORTH IT$7,750
I was always teased in school (all girls school) when I was younger about my nose. Over the years as I got older, I've noticed I never had a problem attracting the opposite sex (YAY! self-esteem in tact) I eventually got married and kind of "forgot" I hated my nose. I started to notice again the past 4 years, the "selfie" era I would cringe at how wide my nose spreads from all angles in photos, the most decent angle would be slightly to the side, and I also stopped smiling in photos because of how wide my nose spreads. I did my research this past year willing to travel anywhere to get the best surgeon that specializes in AA Rhinoplasty. After all...this is MY FACE. I found Dr. Majmundar here on RealSelf. I liked his "natural-looking" work. Then the icing on the cake>>> he is a "top doctor "not only on here but has rated a "top doctor" for many years in a row in Atlanta and he is close enough for periodical follow ups.
I scheduled a consult with him in January and scheduled surgery in March. His office is very very elegant and the staff is pleasant. Stacy seemed a bit like she was in a hurry, almost felt like she didn't take me serious during my consult as if I looked like I was unable to afford it... then it took a while to see Dr. Majmundar. When I finally saw him, he briefly spoke about his techniques and what I should expect with recovery. I was kind of disappointed for such a high-quality doctor he didn't offer computer generated images or asked me much of what I wanted, just what he suggested will be best for my face. I'm a little over a month away. I started to get nervous and decided to email him "wish" pictures to ensure he knew what I wanted. Not what he wanted. I want a change but not too subtle like I haven't had anything done at all..for this price ($7,750) I am hoping for a miracle and GREAT results. He wrote my prescriptions ahead of time and told me to bring it with me the day of the operation. I was prescribed Percocet, anti-nausea meds, anti-biotics and a ain't-nausea patch for surgery to bring the morning of. (PLEASE BUY YOUR ARNIKA, BROMELAIN and other meds from a pharmacy or somewhere else most doctor's offices over charge for these things ...I got charged $85 for 14 Arnika capsules and gel)????
I became so depressed this year with my nose I do NOT TAKE ANYMORE SELFIES. . I decided to delete all social media for 6 months and wait until I have had my nose done then start fresh again. I have not told anyone that I am getting this done because I don't want to hear "you are beautiful you dont need it" "you don't love yourself" "why would you want to change the way God made you?". ..blah blah blah.
Will keep you all posted

I'm having a revision in March 2017 with Dr. Hughes in Los Angeles. I agree. most people would look at my nose and say its okay... I want a more defined bridge, tip, narrow bridge and maybe nostril reduction.. LOL.....

Was he the same Dr. that did your procedure? Sucks that you have to do a revision

no different doc.. my nose doesn't need a revision.. this is purely cosmetic... I decided like 6 six years after my original that I want to raise my bridge, refine my tip and narrow the nose abit.. my first surgeon did a wonderful job .. I just hate creating a bridge with makeup..

So I had surgery today at 7 am, got there at 6 to verify my personal/medical information and prep for surgery (provided a urine sample, change into gown, verify name, DOB,type of procedure and start IV) got my fluids started, I got pushed to the OR when I looked at the clock it was 7am. Zz?zz knocked out zzzzzz.Next thing I woke up it was over, the time was now around 9:30 am.
Groggy and slight discomfort about 3/10. Then the nurse gave me oxy for the pain and ice chips to soothe my throat while she took my vitals and observed me for about a hour before I could go home.
At home resting and doing light laundry and walking around the house , I ate some yougurt before any real swelling or pain sets in. My drip pad has now been changed 3 times since 9am, it's is now 2 pm. It's bleeding through every 2 hours or so.

Day 4
No pain, my daily routine is
Eat a healthy breakfast drink only pinapple juice and water with food and take my antibiotics, arnica pills, and medrol...percocet only when I'm in pain.
Wash my face gently around the splint then wipe off with a wet wash cloth to take the soap off, then pat dry my face. Then I use a qtip with peroxide to clean around the sutures on the outside. Then two pumps of saline in each nostril to loosen up dry blood/mucus then take a q tip and Vaseline to line my nostrils to prevent dryness . Lastly apply chap stick. A MUST (due to mouth breathing)
Every hour squeeze the saline inside my nose, ICE my forehead as much as possible to lessen the swelling. Continue to take my medication as prescribed. I DO NOT TAKE pain medication if I don't need it.
Keep drinking water and eat fiber foods (wheat bread, oatmeal etc) to stay hydrated and keep bowel movements regular. (If on oxy/percocet)
