Is Accutane Worth It?

I was sent to a dermatologist after battling acne for over a year and she instantly prescribed me with accutane. My boyfriend was on it for a while and it seriously worked for him and he only had dry lips and eczema side affects but i am now reading stories of it causing long life pain and health problems and am freaking myself out of it as i am worried it will ruin my body... would love some feedback or opinions on what people think because it seems its the only thing that has seriously helped most people but is it worth the risk? I'll pop in some pics of my skin.

Hi Emfrench, thanks for your post. Have you been on any other prescription medication (creams or oral medicine) before Accutane?
I was prescribed a cream for it but it didn’t really do much but that was it, so hadn’t tried much which was why I was so shocked when she went straight to giving me a prescription for accutane
Over time I noticed the acne prone or acne fighting face products with salicylic acid were causing me to break out more. I switched to Cetaphil face wash because it's gentle--I tried everythinggggg, priced high to low, and low to high and the gentle products were more beneficial for me. Accutane helped my skin clear up and the pimples and acne absolutely went away, but they did not go away forever. I experienced a lot of side effects. The dosage was a cycle starting with low mg, monthly increases to a high peak and the gradual decreases to zero mg. I truly think the prescription dosage should be altered for each person and prescribed according to the height, weight, overall health, mental health, and various other factors. It is a strong medicine. I had to remember to eat enough food because I felt dizzy and faint sometimes from it. I have a review for Accutane and I explain my experiences. I hope you have a great experience from it. I'd definitely recommend using the gentle face products-*** even if you are breaking out***. Accutane is strong enough to work from the inside out and the less irritation on the outside the better. Try not to touch your face if you aren't washing it. Also, I sill try to keep the shampoo and conditioner from washing down my face in the shower too.
Yeah interesting cause I have a pretty strict skin care and I only really use the cetaphil acne foam wash for my skin and then use some serums that supposedly help and moisturiser so that’s interesting for some containing salicylic acid it can make it worse. I definitely am going to get a second opinion cause I feel I haven’t tried enough or was asked much about what I do with my skin to then start there and if it doesn’t work to then use accutane as a last resort which is what normally happens but then I wonder if she knows that it will be the most helpful thing to get rid of it so instead of trialing and error with creams and antibiotics she is just jumping straight to it... yeah not too sure just know I definitely want to trial something as the drug is worrying to me haha.
Thanks for your comments helps a lot :)
