It bothers me that dermatologists knowingly prescribe antibiotic (both topical and oral) over accutane. Antibiotic is totally pointless because bacteria will always re-populate your skin quickly. The reduction excessive oil is the key. If accutane were given in low dose to people with moderate acne, I bet you would see far fewer people with acne on street.

Accutane Works.
For starter, I am posting this to help other severe acne suffers. It's a cruel disease and really debilitates one's life. Accutane is the cure for acne. There's really no other better alternatives
I suffered severe acne for more than 20 years before I tried accutane. It basically cured my acne almost completely. I can go on for days without washing my face and still not have a single pimple. I dont have much side effects, if any. I gained quite a bit weight but I think it has more to do with my age and lack of exercise.
A lot of people mentioned terrible side effects. I personally didn't feel anything when I take accutane, which is rare because I always feel something when I take most other medication. Accutane is supposed to make your skin dry by decreasing oil output. So naturally you will have dry lips and dry eyes. My advise is to start off with low dose and work it up according to your weight. Side effect will be minimal with low dose. You can always stop if you experience strong side effects. Accutane dissolves well in oil so take it with a fatty meal.
This is the best advice that I can give to anyone who suffers from severe acne. Don't waste your time and money with antibiotic and any topical treatment. You will always have bacteria on your skin. The root of acne is over-production of oil from sebaceous gland.
