WORTH IT
Lets start off by saying that I don’t have the worst acne but I do have cystic acne which is terrible to get rid of. I have had some pretty big cysts on my face from acne and have left scars. Hoping this accutane journey will help me.

Week 1 on Accutane

Week 1 being on Accutane. No difference in acne except that I have a few more break outs nows... As of side effects, I’m experiencing the common ones, such as dryness on my face which is surprisingly itchy? And dryness on my lips. I’m using an exfoliating cleaners before bed with my Cerva moisturizing cream and for my lips I’m using Burt’s Bees which is doing wonders as for right now. Not much to update for week one but will update in the next couple of weeks.

25 Days on Accutane

Its been 25 days on Accutane and I have seen a difference in my acne which is very exciting! Even the cyst on my cheek is going away and I am so surprised about it but so happy! Side effects have been the same. Dry face especially around the creases of my nose. Extremely dry lips but now my nose and eyes are starting to get dry. Im using my exfoliating cleanser every night to wash my face and applying my Cerva moisturizing cream after. Im still using my Burts Bees chapstick but its not moisturizing as much as I would like it to so I am using it throughout the day when Im at work or out but at night after i do my face , I apply carmex lip balm which is super moisturizing and makes my lips so soft and plump when I wake up. I also forgot to mention that I was on the 20mg once a day. I am now starting 50mg once a day and I will update in the next couple of weeks.

I’m about to start my third month on 40mg. Try O’keeffe’s chapstick.. it’s amazing!!

Try Dr. Dan’s Cortisone Lip Balm, you can find it on Amazon. It’s absolutely the best for dry lips when you’re on Accutane. I put three of my teenagers on Accutane with in the last year and they swear by the Dr. Dan’s. Accutane has been an absolute game changer for us. After years of antibiotics, Rx creams and ointments, and dermatologist appointments, they are finally cured of acne. All three had very little side effects if any, with the worse side effect being an occasional minor bloody nose. Good luck on your journey I hope you have similar results.

You can also purchase Ayr saline spray for your nose on Amazon and any preservative free saline drops for your eyes, I love the Refresh brand in the single use containers. You can get those on Amazon too, or at Costco if you have a membership.
