Accutane treatment: I don’t have the worst acne but I do have cystic acne

15 Weeks on Accuntane.

WORTH IT
Its been 15 weeks since i’ve started my Accutane treatment so almost 4 months already but 11 weeks since I’ve started my new dosage of 50mg daily. I’ve noticed a few breaks outs on my cheeks and nose but they don’t last very long. The acne I had at the beginning has disappeared but the scarring is still there. Hoping that will fade in time, along with the cystic acne mark that is still there. It has decreased in size tremendously throughout the treatment so far which is amazing because that was my biggest concern but now its starting to indent... Overall my skin is starting to look very clear and smooth, hoping it continues. Side effects are increasing at this time. My face is dry all over, especially in my chin area but I’m using my exfoliator daily and moisturizing as much as I can. My lips are really dry and the left corner is cut but thanks to the comments on my other post they are manageable. My nose was getting really dry and starting to bleed within but no nose bleeds so far. I started using a nasal spray and applying Vaseline to the inside of my nose which helps a lot. My eyes are really dry now and I have been using eyedrops frequently. I was using Refresh tears, lubricating eyedrops but I changed over to the Systane ultra eyedrops recently (the one time use ones) because I didn’t think the refresh ones were helping and I was starting to get an irritation in my left eye but resolved when I switched eyedrops (not sure if it was related) Noticing some blurry vision at times and some headaches. I’ve had some joint pain in my ankles the last couple of weeks but seems to be getting better. Going to keep an eye on the blurriness and the joint pain. Will post in the next couple of weeks with updates.

Hang in there - your results look promising! I had some issue with dry eyes and a lot of joint pain while on accutane. Those side effects went away completely about a month after my last dose.

Updated pictures from August. Some are 11 weeks on Accutane and some are from 12 weeks (3 months).

This month my skin started to look really clear and I didn’t have any new breakouts during this time but close to the end of August (Second set of pics) I started to get breakouts.
