Wanted to pop in and say how happy I STILL am that I did this. I am just now at the 2 year mark (it is May 2020 and I started May 2018,) and everything is wonderful! I truly feel like my skin is transformed. I highly recommend and am happy to answer questions.

I wanted to check in and give everyone hope to stick it out! I ended up being on accutane for 6 months (the max dose.) My doctor and I wanted to be sure we knocked it out while we were at it. I am so glad. After the Accutane my skin was beautiful and has been every since. I now rarely get breakouts, and when I do, I know what is causing them, stress, sweating, etc. It is like having a reset on skin. The texture and quality is not the skin I am used to, in a good way. I am so glad I did accutane.

Your acne wasn't "accutane" bad to begin with. I'm surprised at the Dr who was ok to prescribe it.
No offense but it's not about it being accutane bad .. it's about no other type of treatment helping and this was the last resort.
Thank you Adela1890 for defending me. There is 100% no such thing as "Accutane bad" that is what I learned through this process, everyone is different. I tried everything else and nothing worked, my acne was MILD but persistent. This has been the only thing that worked. I still am so thankful for this experience.
Oh there absolutely is. Accutane is only perscribed to patients with SEVERE acne. Her's is mild. If that was the case, then everyone would be prescribed accutane.
You're fortunate to have that Dr. because lots of people have mild persistent acne but Drs. will not prescribe it. You would also know that accutane is a very controversial drug. That is why many Dr are reluctant to prescribe it and only prescribe it to those with SEVERE acne and THEY have tried all and nothing worked. Look up the other accutane cases here on real self and tell me if they look mild. They all have severe cases.
Acne doesn’t need to be severe to be put on accutane. And the “controversy” is mostly not from the medical community.
Preach girl !! I can’t wait to start mind and I have Mild acne! Thank you for sharing your journey
I mentioned it to my doctor and she was on board for it ASAP. Maybe you just have an old school doctor. Some doctors are just more understanding then others.
That is false. Accutane is not just prescribed people people with severe acne. It is also prescribed to people with mild yet consistent adult acne. I’m not sure why you are attacking this person but you were wrong in this situation, as I have mild acne and my doctor just approve me for Accutane so with that being said maybe you should stop trying to argue about who’s “ acne “ is right for accutane and just appreciate this individual for sharing her journey as it will help others including myself
I had moderate, even mild, acne from age 12-27. I have been on accutane twice in the last two years. I’m so thankful for a dermatologist who put me on it both times, even though it wasn’t “severe.” My acne was persistent and consistent, which makes it a candidate for accutane. Nothing else worked for me or I would have just used that.
Totally agree and so glad it worked for you!
Hello I want to know how do you feel it is working. Doest it work progressively or one day you wake up and you see a dramatic change.... In my case im in month 2 and in month 1 i saw iit getting worse with ups and downs... at some point it feels that is improving but then boom starts getting worse again. In second month i got huge pimples on one cheek and they took forever to decrease on size, in other words, i felt they decreased on size because of time but not because of accutante...anyways they look very small now but still i cannot say i see a progressive improvement as the break out was heavy and i feel im just starting to go back to my initial state with a lot of dark spots on places i never had acne...so i wonder about these details because in that sense i can be mentally prepared...specially if it is true that one day suddenly you see a dramatic improvement..or it is a myth...
I think it's different for everyone, my results were up and down and up and down, which is mentally exhausting. Just like yours. Around month 4 I started to see consistent results, it wasn't overnight but I just noticed week by week it started to smooth out with no new breakouts. Months 4-5 my skin was great, however we kept me on Accutane through month 6 (which is the maximum dose,) just to be sure we used it in its entirely. I would encourage your doc to keep you on through your maximum dose even if it looks good around month 4-5 don't stop early. Good luck and hang in there!! Whatever you do now that you've started, don't stop early!!
What dosage??

Month two
Almost immediately after I posted my rave review from month one, my face started breaking out with large under the skin breakouts. Painful and untreatable, these are unlike anything I’ve have before. I have read about month two being horrible but it’s just sooo hard to come from an amazing month one, to this. I am feeling really reallly down on myself, i hate that i have to wear full coverage makeup again to work. I am going to stay the course and stay strong!!!

I used accutane 18 yrs ago and have never had another break out! Stick with it you’ll be amazed.
It's been day 7 I've been on accutane. I'm 22 and have been suffering from acne for years now. Though, I'm a little skeptical to use it, considering it's side effects? Can anyone when me out?
