Three and a half month update

Hi everyone! So, good news, I started back up on my accutane about a month and a half ago. I was taking 60mg, but I'm down to 40mg for now. Things didn't really seem to improve until last week or so, but Im finally starting to clear up a bit. I still have spots and hyperpigmentation, but most of them are old. I only have like one new bump in the past 2 weeks. Really hoping the scars will improve in time, too, but not really sure how to do so. Have you guys had any luck?

Stopping accutane

I'm so so upset I have to stop Accutane. My doctor said my triglycerides were too high to continue this medication :( I might be able to go back on it in the future, but there's no sign of that happening any time quickly :( So sad and disappointed!

Hi
Very sad for you that you have to stop. To go back on medication you need to change your diet to super healthy. Since I had my first course my dermotologist - gave me the list of food which I can eat, other food which I can eat very rare and the food I should avoid. All processed food I cut from diet. Hope your blood test will stabilise and you can try to go back on it on lower dosage.
From my acne only Roaccutane is working.
Thanks for sharing your experience with me! Unfortunately, I did try to change my diet when I first started the Accutane, but have seen no improvements :( Do you mind sharing with me what foods you were/were not advised to eat? I went to an internal medicine doctor and she just said I needed to change my diet and eat more eggs and nuts... But those are high in fat so not sure how they will help my triglyceride levels.
Sorry to hear that...know how you feel. I’ve been on accutane for just about a month and had my first follow up with my doc yesterday. Was told I had to discontinue because of thinning hair which I didn’t think was really that serious. But it was pretty crappy news either way.
Aww, that's very disappointing :( Is there anything you could do to try to go back on it?
Be glad you can't take it.I was your age when I took it(I am now 57) and it caused my eyes to become dry, they still are.And shrunk my oil glands( which is permanent) so much that I got premature wrinkles( in my 40's) and has gotten worse.Wish I never took it.

2 month update

Wow, its been a while!! How is everyone doing?

Sadly, no good news to report here. Finished my second month and my skin is worse than ever. My triglycerides are so high from this medication that my doctor will take me off of it unless I can lower them, which I have already been trying to do by changing my diet and taking fish oil, daily. However, they keep getting higher and higher. She also decreased my dose from 60mg to 40mg to help with this. My lips are dry and cracking, still. But the rest of my face really isn't even dry anymore. Im feeling really discouraged at this point :(

Any tips/ suggestions on anything? Especially lowering triglycerides?

Hope you all are having more luck than I! Xoxo

Hang in there. I havent tried accutane thinking about getting it bur have read stories that some cases dont see results until 3 or 4 month so dont be discouraged and keep a positive attitude. Stress is the worst for everything. For triglycerides maybe try to exercise a little bit. Maybe it can help . I will continue to follow your journey and i am sure you will have great results . Good luck
Try cutting out all canola soybean and safflower oil that’s in packaged chips cookies crackers etc. get some natural mineral powder makeup, change pillowcase every other night, leave hands off face unless you just washed your hands. Genetics plays a role in your high triglycerides unfortunately, try no fried foods either. Best of luck Have you cut out Dairy? My facial gal said it really helps skin.
