Accutane for 27 Year Old Woman

Accurate for 27 Year Old Woman
I started my accurate journey March 2018. I did not have cystic acne as a teenager. Occasional breakouts and blackheads and combination skin turned into heavy cystic acne in my mid 20’s. It was awful. Everyone always had something to suggest or say like I hadn’t noticed or done everything possible (cutting out dairy, becoming vegan, doxycycline, spironolactone, and every over the counter thing possible -though benzoyl peroxide did calm the redness more than salicylic acid-, eventually resorting to natural topical oils such as jojoba and turmeric oil & coconut oil for my body). When I first went to the in late October, he suggested I start retin a topical cream at night and aczone in the morning. After 3 months my skin was the worse than it had ever been. Finally, my derm was willing to prescribe Accutane. After all the blood test and iPledge I finally started accutane. With my insurance I was given amnesteem, and my dose was 40 mg twice a day for 6 months. My derm eventually wanted me to do 40 mg 3 times a day every other day but I only did it about every 3 days since I was worried about the side effects. My main side effects were dry lips (only cracked & bled once , dry eyes, dry bloody boogers, a little joint pain, and sensitive gums that would occasionally bleed when brushing my teeth. One month I did have dryness down there but it went away with some otc cream. I also had to keep an eye on what I ate since my alt would sometime come back elevated but nothing too concerning to have me stop. I don't drink alcohol or smoke either. I continued using oils for my skin régimen & didn’t really have any issues with dry skin and I think the oils and drinking a ton of water really helped. I started noticing a different after two months. No new break outs and a little less redness. It was in month four my skin was amazing. It was glowing, minimal redness, no bumps, plump lips, no greasy hair! At month 6 I was extremely happy with my skin. I was so happy to only have minimal scarring and hyperpigmentation. I would definitely recommend this to someone who feels like they have done everything they can for their skin. This is def a last resort medicine and needs to be taken with a lot of precaution. I read all about it before committing to this treatment but I am very happy I chose this.
